Infant Shoes

Just curious if your 9 1/2 month old is walking? If not, I would suggest just getting some of the soft shoes (if you really think you need to put shoes on him) like Robeez or something like that. I got my son shoes from Striderite when he started walking (didn't put shoes on him until then) and they are great, but can be pricey - but they are very durable and wide for his fat little foot. I also got some cute shoes that seem really good quality at Carter's and they were a little cheaper.

Hi L.! Check out Darlingshoes.com I have gotten lots of shoes for my daughter there.. Some are quite expensive, but I have found cute shoes for $2 and $3 on there before. Last year for Christmas I got her 6 pair from there (tennies, buckle shoes, etc) and I think I paid around $25 including shipping. Beats paying $15 for a pair they grow out of in a matter of months! Maybe your son is trying to tell you something! There's no reason a 9 month old needs shoes except for decoration. Just use booties or socks. And remember, the best way for a baby to learn to walk is in bare feet, not shoes!

I buy my little ones the Robeez shoes. They have them at striderite and Kid to kid. They are about $26. I think they are worth it. They don't come off easily, but are easy to put on. They aren't cumbersome for the little ones learning to walk and they are too cute!

Hi - you can always find Great shoes at SAVER's, Good Will and Esp Garage Sales - they dont wear them out at that age and you get them for a fraction of the cost - including clothing and toys too!! Good Luck and you can also try Craigs List - mommies are always looking to sell and trade baby items - they also advertise on there for baby clothing trading sales - where people trade what their children have outgrown for the next sizes - try that too!! Both of my boys wore Robeez as their first shoes because they cannot take them off and they are flexible leather slipper type shoes. They sell them at Nordstrom, Kid to Kid in Ahwatukee and Stride Rite. They are worth the investment and will be the only pair he needs until he is running. Don't bother with the Target look a likes - they aren't as flexible and soft and didn't last.

Hi, If your son is starting to or trying to walk, I'd buy him some Stride Rite or some other good quality shoes. Having good shoes while learning to walk is very important, at least I believe it is. Once my daughter learned to walk I bought her shoes from Target and such, but for that 1st pair I paid a little more to be sure she had the proper support.
As for being able to secure them, have you tried the locking mechanisms that they have for laces? I got mine at Stride Rite when I got her shoes. You tie the shoes and then stuff the laces in the "compartment". My daughter couldn't figure it out. I hope this helps. Good luck with whatever you end up doing!
