Increasing Morning Sickness?!!

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced an increase in morning sickness as their pregnancy progressed? During the first trimester, it was as if I just had a sour stomach. No real nausea and absolutely no vomiting.

Now, I'm in my 5th month of being pregnant and I've started getting sick several times a day. The nausea is increasing and I'm starting to have problems keeping down foods that never bothered me before. I'm starting to feel weak and shaky and spent yesterday on the couch, moving as little as possible.

Is this normal? Should I be concerned and talk to my doctor about it? Is there anything out there that might help?

What can I do next?

I was sick up until my 7th month of pregnancy. I went in to the Emergency Room when I was about 3 months pregnant because of the same reason you are explaining. I couldn't even keep water down so the doctor gave me 2 different prescriptions phenegran which makes you sleep and another one so I could work. I was never big on taking pills but these saved me since I worked. The preggie pops helped a little i think thats why I didn't feel nauseas at the end of my 2nd trimester. I hope this helps and gl

I would run it by your Dr or call the nurse at the clinic to get some advice and reassurance. You can try taking 1/2 unisom tablet (over the counter sleep aid) in the p.m. and 50 mg of B6 a.m. and p.m. to help with the sickness. It's supposed to be very safe. The sleep center in the brain is the same center that deals with nausea, that's the theory behind the sleeping pill working. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon. It is sure miserable!!

Have you tried anything peppermint. Peppermint tea or just sucking on peppermints. Ginger tea also helped. Staying hydrateds. Being dehydrated will cause you to be more nauseaded. I now it is hard when you can't keep anything down, but if you try little sips at a time, frequently. Don't wait until you are already sick, start from the time you get up. I found that the days I would jump out of bed and was in a hurry, were the days that I would have trouble getting a grip on nausea all day. Have a couple of crackers at you bedside. Plain bake potatoes helped me.

If you are thinking about Zofran, you should really read about potential risks to your baby. Just because it is prescribed doesn't always make it safe. You really need to weigh the risks. Zolfran does have a warning on it for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Sometimes drs. don't explain the long term effects you might have with your child.

My first 2 preg's were very easy, then with number 5 (there are two others who aren't bio mine) things went down hill after the first trimester, his was mainly puking, then # 6 nausea was the biggest factor but I did get sick, and the there was number seven he was a combination of #5 and 6 and it was god awful, I always do fine the first trimester but as soon as the second trimester comes it is downhill, with numer 7 I had a new DR and he put me on B6 and unisom at night, of course he didn't mention it to me unitl I was eight months along, even though I lost weight throughout the preg, and did with both, he just didn't realise how bad I felt so he hadn't told me it before so I did what he asked and what a difference I wasn't my old self but at least I felt like doing something other then laying around all day, so I would ask your Dr about it!

Try Preggie Pops, especially ginger. If you're feeling weak and shaky, it's worth calling your doctor to make sure you're not dehydrated. The doctor can also prescribe things to help, as well. I think B6 is another one, but I'm not sure.

I'm right there with ya- I feel like most days I spend on self imposed bed rest. Preggie pops and drops help me- but only for about 30 minutes. Drinking VERY small amounts of ginger ale helps me too. I have an appointment tomorrow, and I was going to ask them about B6 and unisom... I've heard from a bunch of people that if you take those 2 things every night before bed you aren't sick the next day- I didn't want to try it before I spoke to my doctor, but i can let you know what they say, or you might want to ask yours about it, too! Also, yes watch the weak and shaky thing, it is really easy to get dehydrated vomiting all the time- try a few teaspoons of water every twenty minutes-ish- that helps me keep it down!! Good luck!

I threw up between 5 and 10 times a day from 5.5 weeks until I delivered at 38 weeks. I was on many different medications. My doc put me on vitamin b6 and unisom first, then we tried phenergen and zofran. They did help to lesson the vomiting, but it never took it entirely away. Good Luck!!

My mother-in-law was sick with one of hers the intire pregnany. She had a hard time keeping down crackers. I would however tell your Dr. so he/she is aware of your sickness they might have something to help ease the discomfort. I know I was sickest when I was tired. It might help to just take some time and read to your daughter so you both have time to sit still for a few minutes and maybe even nap together. It worked with my boys and they loved the time together.

I did with my 2nd and they prescribed Zofran for me. It will only work to prevent vomiting and nausea, phenergren works to stop it once it starts. The preggo pops worked for me only when it was mild. Hope it gets better soon!

One of my friends had an increase in sickness throughout her pregnancy. I did get her some pregnancy drops (found them at Babies R us and motherhood) and they seemed to help her a lot. If you feel like you need to double check with your ob it never hurts just to call. Congrats on the new little one!
