E.,

Tell your doctor. They've seen EVERYTHING. I had 4 internal bleeding hemmorrhoids and one extrenal after delivering my first son (lotsa pushing) and even got them after my second son (only 2 pushes and he came out).

They're not that big of a deal to your doctor, but untreated can be a real pain.

It really is a very common thing during pregnancy and your Dr. probably is very used to seeing them.
For you I think it would be a lot better to mention it to your Dr. so he/she can tell you what you can do to make it more comfortable during delivery and to discuss what you can expect (if anything).
Hang in there, you're almost there!

Mention it to your doctor. I had them ONLY during pregnancies...not had them recur. She can tell you what to use on them. Don't worry

Your doctor/midwife is very used to seeing hemorrhoids and will not think twice. They are very common in pregnancy and postpartum. Dab witch hazel on it with a cotton ball, (if you are not squemish) gently replace it into the rectum in the shower, and soak in a warm bath. Try to stay off your feet and keep pressure off the lower part of your body. Also be sure to drink plenty of water and avoid constipation. It will probably go away on its own after your little one is born.

Absolutely get it taken care of. Don't be embarrased to tell your doctor. I'm sure he/she has seen their fair share of hemeroids. I know it's mortifying, but it's better to tell them than to not. If left untreated, it could get infected and that's not good!!!!

Completely normal! Although not fun or comfortable.

At 37 weeks, you may be at the stage where your OB is doing internal checks - chances are she'll notice the hemorrhoid anyway! It's such a normal thing that she may not mention anything, assuming you are already doing something to make it more comfortable. Ask her for recommendations on cream/ointment etc. Tucks in combination with Prep H or the like should help.

Don't worry, hemmorhoids won't stop your ability to give birth. I've had them for as long as I can remember and after giving birth to my son I think there were so many that I probably looked like a bunch of grapes was hanging out of my butt. Use hemmorhoid cream and tucks and they'll shrink back down, and if you're up to it, poke it back inside gently while you are in the shower so that it doesn't get irritated.

Good luck!

Your doctor has, no doubt, delivered hundreds if not thousands of babies. He or she has seen the vagina stretched wide open to allow a baby to come out. He or she has seen the placenta delivered. He or she has likely seen every STI imaginable, including ones not so visually appealling like herpes or warts and had to remove them chemically or surgically.

Hemorrhoids during pregnancy are pretty common, like many other posters have mentioned. You won't be the first and certainly not the last patient to present with one. Just say "I'm not sure, but I think I might have a hemorrhoid. My symptoms are ____" and that's it. He or she will be able to help you.

Well. could be worse. you could poop on yourself during delivery. I'm saying that laughing. Its such not a big deal, don't worry about it. Just use witch hazel and prep H and you'll be fine : )

Its a very normal thing with pregnancy - yes not the most nice thing and embarrassing but normal. I think with my second is when I got mine - Talk to the doctor but you might just have to use preparation H a few times and it will heal - BUT TALK TO THE DOCTOR - it wont just go away on its own and don't try to poke it to break it cause then it will be really bad.
I thought the same kinda mortification but once I got treatment for it, its really not as bad as you think it is at first! Good luck
