Anyone have ideas for a First Birthday Party for my twin boys? I was planning on just having something small and low-key at our home for mostly family and a few close friends. But I am at a loss for themes and ideas! They aren't really "into" any shows or characters yet, but I don't really want to do a generic 1st birthday theme. I wanted something fun & cute that plays into them being twins. There will also be a few older kids at the party (toddler-preschool age) and I'd like to have something that would include them as well. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

So What Happened?

Wow- what great suggestions!! I lOVED so many of the ideas- especially the Noah's Ark theme! But after really thinking about it, I decided to wait until their 2nd Birthday to do the 2 by 2 Noah's Ark. We are actually going with a rubber ducky theme (my boys love bathtime). We are on a budget, and this will allow us to use a lot of decorations we already have, and I found some great ideas for themed cupcakes on the celebrateexpress.com site that I can make instead of ordering through a bakery. I am very excited to start planning- thanks for everyone's input!

We just had a Noahs Ark animals two by two party. You caould do animals....two tigers, two elephants. Whatever you think they'd like.....all the animals if you want. Then animals make nice gifts, plates......games.......It was a fun time. It was actually a baby shower for twins.

Hi K. ~ Check out www.celebrateexpress.com and there is a tab at the top for First Birthdays. I ordered party supplies from this place when my son turned 1...there is a pretty good selection. Also, the website www.birthdaypartyideas.com is good for ideas from other parents.

try getting them a cake each(small),then have a big one for the others.have the party on a playground,so that all kids have something to enjoy.party hats and noise makers,is what they all want.if they have their own little cake, they feel special.thats what we did for our twin grandsons.everything went fine.good luck and HAVE A HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

I just did a bug party for my 4 year old but my 1 1/2 year old loved it too. I got lady bugs from the home depot and little bug catchers to give out with the lady bugs in them for party favors and since a lot of the lady bugs escaped there were lady bugs everywhere for the party too. They also have bug grahm crackers and other buggy foods to use.

Good luck

Here is a website that has ideas for twin birthday parties... we had our boys 1st birthday party at a park where we used to live and it was a lot of fun but hot. We did an astronaut theme with red/white/blue and we made astronaut faced cakes. It was fun. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
It's so much fun having twins!!!!=)

Why not try something like Cowboys and Indians; giving each of them their own theme and small cake to smash face into :)
You can try Gators/Noles, policeman/fireman...etc.
Good luck!

I had my twins (now 5) first birthday at their grandmother house & I had no ideas then either. If I could do it again, I would pick bright colors as the theme. They are not old enough to pick one themselves, but is is a scientific fact that kids like things in bright colors. So just pick bright blue's, green's yellow's, pink's and soooo on. You could also have little activity centers for the older children. Your twins could also do them, use the Elmers paint-less finger paint, it's a pounder and works really good. There are also so many mess free finger paint out there, it's so much fun to watch them all.

Remember, they are not going to remember this party, so do what is fun for the older children & take lot's of pictures. Just wait for the 4th party to really go all out. That is the first year they really get into it.

How about a Noah's Ark theme since Noah had to take 2 of each animal?
