If you haven't heard of the Arc, it is an organization made up of parents who have kids with all kinds of disabilities. They provide information, contacts, resources, classes ... all kinds of stuff that makes parenting easier. The best part is meeting other families who have the same issues to deal with! Check out these links and see if you can find anything you might want to pursue. And good luck!!

I know there's also an autism group, but I don't know the name of it. I'll try to find out and get it to you later.

Good luck finding just the group for you!

Okay, I'm back now, with info about autism groups. Hope these links help you find what you're looking for!

Autism Society of Dallas at http://www.autismsocietyofdallas.org

Families for Effective Autism Treatment at
http://www.featnt.org (I was warned that this group pushes nutritional and medical interventions which sound like cures but often don't make much difference for a lot of $$. They do offer great classes and trainings for parents from time to time ... just be aware.)

and the Texas-Autism-Advocacy – Yahoo online discussion Group at ____@____.com (Just send an email, telling who you are, and they will invite you to join the group).

I am in your boat, my son is 6 and has autism. It's already been a rough start to the school year and I would love to have more friends to talk with. Feel free to check out my profile and e-mail me. :-)

My DD doesnt have Autism but we think she might have PDD-NOS. She has an apt in Dec with the Child Study Center. I know how hard it is to have a child that is different and how overwhelming it can be. I have to explain to others that we dont know why she cry's when people laugh or we dont know why she stiffens up and looks down when children approch her. If you want someone to talk to reply and i will be happy to give you my number.
