I recommend not taking What to Expect When You're Expecting too seriously.

Sleep - once you have the baby, you'll forget what that's like LOL
Enjoy it! Take care of yourself. Let others pamper you a bit. The "what to expect when you're expecting book has a lot of good info, but they also cover EVERYTHING that could happen. Assume that you will have an easy pregnancy, be prepared to have annoying symptoms, listen to your doc, and also trust your gut.

Congratulations! I guess my biggest tip is to make sure that you take it easy and don't try to do too much! Also, make sure that you write down any questions you might have for your doctor and bring them with to your appointments. It is easy to forget to ask something and (at least with the first few docs I had) it is next to impossible to get them on the phone once you leave your appointment! Don't worry about a question being too embarrassing or silly...and don't leave until all your questions are answered!

Good Luck!

Congratulations and welcome to the "Mommies Club"!
Just a few suggestions -
Eat right; eat a balanced diet but remember that just because you're eating for two does not mean that the other person is your size. Not only watch what you're eating but how much. Pig out on vegetables and fruits but not on ice cream, pizza and other fatty cravings.
Don't forget to stay active; pregnancy does not mean you get to lounge on the couch all day (with potato chips and malted milkshakes (see above)). Walk around the block, walk around the mall, join a water aerobics class, just do something to keep your muscles strong and limber. They will come in handy in the delivery room.
Listen to everyone's advice, but take only that which sounds right for you. If someone starts to give you their nightmare version of childbirth, nod politely as you are mentally choosing names.
Above all, keep an open line of communication with your doctor and nurse. Ask them first about diet and exercise and follow their recommendations for you.
Have a great pregnancy.

From one pregnant woman to another my best advice is to minimize internet usuage looking for pregnancy advice just call and trust your OB. Some things will freak you out on the internet because everyone has a story. :)

Best advice I can give you: Hire a midwife! You will receive better care for you and your baby. And research has proven that it is safer and healthier for you and the baby to give birth with a midwife rather than an OB.

Congratulations! That is wonderful news. :-) Take care of yourself and be patient. You may have some icky times during your pregnancy, but it is all worth it when you meet your precious little one. God bless you and your unborn baby!

As people have already mentioned, lots of fruits, veggies and water. Avoid processed foods as much as possible as some people experience lots of swelling from added salt in the food.

If you have a worry or you feel something unusual, talk to your doctor but remind yourself that most pregnancies are normal and there is no need to worry about something that you have heard or read that happened to someone else. Your baby needs you to be as positive and excited as you possibly can be.

Don't stress about things way into the future.

Congrats!
