hi moms! I need your opinion especially those who have tried doing it. I am planning to apply bleaching cream with 2% hydroquinone on my leg scars. but the products says I breastfeeding and pregnant women shouldn't use it. I am breastfeeding my 15 month old baby, i have read some articles saying it's fine to use it but make sure you wash your hands before touching your baby. i am not really sure, but i really wanted to get rid of those scars before winter comes. that's why im asking those moms out there who have used hydroquinone while breastfeeding. hope to get opinions and answers from you guys. thanks a lot!

What can I do next?

I looked it up on Lactmed which I use for reference and it's not even listed. What information I found using Google was all very uncertain about using it because there has been no data to support if it's safe or not. It's been banned by the FDA in certain forms, but they consider it safe in the way it's being used in topical creams. That gives me pause personally.
It's topical which is absorbed into the system less than if you were to be taking it orally.
If it were me I would skip it until I was done breastfeeding since it's only for a cosmetic reason.

Go talk to a pharmacist. It is their job to be informed about medications and they have up to date resources about all meds. A pharmacist is going to be much more knowledgeable than even doctors about medication issues. You can walk into any pharmacy and ask to talk to a pharmacist. They are more than happy to answer your questions.

I haven't ever tried hydroquinone specifically. However, whenever I had a question about whether something was safe to take/use while I was nursing, I always called a local breastfeeding boutique/lactation clinic and they were very helpful. They could explain why something was or wasn't safe, what the effects would be, etc.
