Hi ladies

i have had a problem with severe acne for about a year now and i think we finally have it under control. now i'm left with brown acne scars, is there any over the counter products i can use to fade them or make them go away. i cant afford to spend a ton of money. i want something that will help clear this up.. i have done some research and read about bio-oil and mederma but not sure those would work for me.
thanks

Jafra makes a product called Pigment Fade designed to do what you need. The link to the product description is:
http://www.jafranews.com/heliceUSA/downloads/ResourceLibr.... It takes a few weeks to work, but does work quite well in most cases.
Depending on how severe the spots are, and if you have insurance, you may wish to see a dermatologist. Dr. Bitter in Los Gatos uses a laser in a treatment called photo finish that also removes discoloration. He removed a cyst from my hand last year and included photo finish as part of the treatment to get rid of the scar. It only took one treatment and I can't even see the spot anymore.

I don't know of any over-the counter products that work well but ask your dermatologist for 'Lustra AF' - it works wonders on discolorations/scars. I have used it on my forehead from some burn scars. From what I remember it took only a couple of months for the scars to completely away. Your skin will look very different!

N.,
I had to go thru acutane treatent for severe acne. Here is what I have used for the scars...Murad Age Spot and pigment lightening gel. It is available at Ulta. Also,
I works in about a week, you will notice a difference. Don't be surprised if you feel a tingly sensation for a few minutes when you put it on. I bought a bottle about six months ago and it is only half gone, so it will last you a while. Good luck, you have my sympathy.

N.,
I highly recommend Obagi. It is not over the counter but can be purchased on ebay for a much lower price than the doctor's office. However, you will need a prescription for retin-a. I have used it for fading acne scars and sun damage. I know many women who have used it and will agree it is really a great product. I would suggest you go to a dermatologist for a consultation and a prescription for the retin-a and then get online and order the products from ebay. Good luck.

If you have insurance you might see a dermatologist & ask for a chemical peel or what i had was something like it, but can't remember what it's called. i get back acne during pregnancy & had lots of scars when it healed. i had this 'peel' done & it was so fast, easy & no side effects. you can BARELY see anything now! find out how much your portion would be after insurance.

I get the brown spot after a pimple goes away. Mine go away after a while. I have heard vitamin E oil is great for scars. You can pop the softgells with a needle or buy a small bottle right on the vitamin isle. After fighting acne for over 16 years I finally went to a dermatologist. My insurance covers it. He looked at me and said nothing over the counter was going to work. A trip to the pharmacy and a month later, acne free. And no hormones. good luck

Hi N.,
I think you should try this regimen by Rodan & Fields called Reverse. It is $160 for a 2-3 month regimen and it is money
back guarantee should you not be fully satisfied in 60 days.
It is for age and sun spots and dull skin coloring. I think it could really revitalize and brighten up your skin and lighten the brown spots. It's active ingredient is hydraquinone.

BUY at http://nbrand.myrandf.com

or email me with any questions: ____@____.com

Hi N.,
acne scars or in your case, acne bruising... the skin will turn brown/purple where the acne used to be and it gets discolored.
You need to try the REVERSE line by Rodan + Fields Dermatologists!(creators of Proactiv) It is medicated so it works faster than other products plus it is less expensive then doing Obagi. It has 2% Hydroquinone(skin lightener) in two of their products, when piggy backed together it is AMAZING! And 100% money back guarantee!
I know of people who have had struggles with this same issue, and were helped over a period of a few months of using this product!
I use the REVERSE line myself for my discoloration and dark spots. My good friend recommended the REVERSE Regimen from Nordstrom, she said it was the only thing that would work because it was medicated. I was blown away by the results! It completely brightened my skins complexion , faded my brown/dark spots in about 6 - 8 weeks, my skin looked & still looks incredible! I receive tons of compliments!
How this works it is a 4 - step regimen that is medicated OTC products, so you do not need a prescription or go to the Dermatologist! It either works or you get your money back, pretty cool, huh? That's what I thought! The (4) Step Regimen includes steps: (1) An exfoliating facial wash, (2) Medicated Toner - 2 % Hydroquinone that lightens and brightens(3) Medicated lotion -2 % Hydroquinone lightens and brightens and (4) SPF/Sunscreen (broad spectrum) -so you keep those nasty little spots away for good! Also try to stay out of the sun!
They no longer sell it at Nordstrom's or Saks but have moved their company to online sales. I loved the line so much that I decided to distribute it on the side so I can get a discount on my personal products! So if you'd like more info. on this please feel free to contact me ____@____.com and I will be happy to help answer any questions you may have.
You will be blown away by the results!

Also, if your acne still persists they have the Unblemish Line" - that was voted in Allure Magazine "The Best Acne Regimen 2 years in a row!"

There are a few over-the-counter skin bleaching products that may be effective for your condition. You want to look for products that contain the active ingredient hydroquinone. The higher the concentration, the more effective it will probably be. I believe 3% is the highest concentration available without a prescription. Hydroquinone works by decreasing the amount of melanin (the chemical that causes skin pigmentation) on the skin. You should be able to find them in most pharmacies and they are not expensive. I have also seen them in Walmart. They are usually found near the African-American hair product section.
