Then I tried water and salt which only got rid of a few spots which
Left a funky pattern. Then I got a comet homecare cleanser with bleach and that left blue spots...

I have beige carpet... I have dogs... We drink red wine.

My tip is not on the top of everyone's list but it has worked for the worst wine, vomit diahrrea stains from dogs.

I blot as much as possible with paper towels. I use Zep brand aerosol from Home Depot ( NOT the foaming one). Spray and blot. Then... I spray and blot more.... Then I place a double paper towel over the stain, put a hot iron on it and steam it out.

I know people here will tell me how wrong I am but I've done this for years and it works. We also get the carpets professionally cleaned once every 3-4 months.
Good luck!

There may be no return from the bleach you used. That damage may be permanent. My "go to" is Spot Shot. It comes in a blue aerosol can with an orange lid. It's has gotten permanent marker out of the sofa when my son went through it picasso phase. And when we came home to dog blood dried in the carpet (dog broke a toe nail while we were away), it all came out. Spot Shot has saved our carpet and laundry on multiple occasions.

I use Resolve Carpet cleaner (has gotten everything out for me) and I have also tried Spot Shot as SB mentions below and had success with that.

But before I use those, I soak stain with warm water/blot with paper towel ... repeat until the color has lifted from the stain. Then I use the cleaner sparingly.

Those cleaners do sometimes fade your carpet. That's why I use water and blot up the liquid as much as possible first.

To get bleach stains out of carpet I would just Google. I think I've heard mixing a small amount of vinegar with water will do it.

Good luck :)

If you already used bleach on it, it's probably permanently damaged.

This is the reason I only buy the yellow lemonade flavor. =0/

Hope you find something that will work. Good luck.

First off, you need to ensure that you've gotten all of the cleaners out of your carpet. I'd rent a steam cleaner from the store. Wet and pull all of the stuff out of the carpet that you can so you have a clean surface to work with.

Then, while the carpet is still damp, take a Fels Naptha laundry bar and rub it into the stain. Work the soap into the fibers with your fingers and allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes. Use the steam cleaner to remove the soap, rinse and remove the rinse water. If the Fels Naptha doesn't get it out, you're probably out of luck.

Sadly, at this point you will probably have permanent discoloration due to all of the things you have tried, esp. bleach. You might want to try a professional.

not sure now w/the bleach additive - but try Windex/Glass Plus -- would have worked much better when the mess first happened but still might help.
