Both NEISD and NSISD have adult continuing education. They both offer classes and give a sample test to those who register so go on line to either school district and check it out. R. B

look for an adult education class and study to take your GED. Most colleges and jobs accept this type of Diploma. I quit school and didn't get my GED until my daughter was about 9 years old. I was coaching young cheerleaders and pushed good grades on them. I realized if they were to have asked me about my school I would have been a hypocrit so I signed up for all the tests and took them. I didn't take any prep classes and still passed but I don't recommend that unless you were a pretty good student. Trust me as a parent you always want better for you children and tend to push higher expectations to them. So better yourself and don't hesitate to go to college. DO IT NOW! You will only keep putting it off!

Hi A.,
First of all congratulations on wanting to better yourself!!! What a wonderful example you are sending to your children!!! An education is priceless.

All the school districts have community education programs where they offer GED classes etc. Look on their websites to find out more. Also try the City of San Antonio website. They always have info. The Public Library is also an excellent information place.

Good luck to you!
Sincerely,
J. R.

Hi A. I would start by looking into the Alamo Workforce closest to your home. I also have four kids and believe me I was very scared to get my GED because I had been out of school for 15 years before I went to my local Workforce about three years ago to take some GED classes for free and then they took me to SACC to get a voucher from them to take the actual GED test and to my surprise I passed it on the first try. Now I am enrolled at St. Philips. It really feels good to know that I am going back to school to give my kids a better life they deserve it. If they don't have any GED classes at your workforce they should be able to refer you to other agencies that offer that service. I know when I went to take these GED classes not all the Workforce offices offered the GED classes. I hope I have been of some help to you. GOOD LUCK. Maria N.
