I have a follow up appt. with my o.b. next monday but I thought you ladies could give me some insight. How long did you bleed with your miscarriages? I am/was 6 1/2 weeks along and I am having minor cramping with basic period-like bleeding with clots passed this morning and not since.
Also, how soon were you able to get pregnant again after your miscarriage? Not sure if we're at the point that we want to start trying again yet, but I'd like to know what I can look forward to. Thanks ladies!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies! I bled for 7 days and did not have to have a d&c. It was pretty smooth. Thanks for the support!

For me:

Bleeding: a few weeks to a couple months. D&C's finished MUCH faster (they were the couple week ones). Whether we went the natural or D&C route... my period returned apx when it "should" after a normal period.

about a week, but I did not have any cramping, just bleeding.... but then by then, it was a confirmed miscarriage. Mine being at the 6 week mark. I had a D&C right then. My periods returned as normal. I got pregnant again about 6 months post miscarriage. Which my Doc said to wait 6 months before trying to conceive again.

After your miscarriage or D&C ask your Doctor how long you should abstain from sex... as your body heals. You cannot just have sex right after a miscarriage/D&C.

I had a miscarriage last December, I was 7 weeks and 5 days pregnant. The bleeding was for a week very heavy and there was lots of tissue in it, the week after was just spotting. I didn't have to have a D&C either. When I saw my doctor she said it all passed out, but I still feel weird even after 6 months. To be honest I only had my period twice since the miscarriage. And that is bad.
I was told that we shouldn't even try for another baby for at least a year. A friend of mine was told by her doctor (when she had a miscarriage 2 years ago) that they should wait 6 months to try again, and to make sure she has at least 3 or 4 regular periods (consecutive months) before trying again.
In my case how my periods are not coming chances are I can't get pregnant now, or if I did I would have 90% chance to miscarry again!

i had a d&c, so i stopped bleeding about a week or so later.

For getting pregnant, my doctor told me to wait until i had at least one normal period to make sure everything was flushed out of my system. And after that to go ahead and start trying. it took about 6 months of trying before i got pregnant again.

i had a miscarriage at 6-7 weeks back in 11/09. I bled for about 6 weeks and opted not to get a D&C..just wanted the bleeding and clotting to come out naturally. I got pregnant on jan 7, 2010, and am now 21 weeks pregnant with a baby girl.

anything is possible! Good luck!

I had a miscarriage 4 years ago. I did not have a d&c. I went to the ER and they kept me for a few hours and told me that everything had passed, so I could go home. I bled and bled. I bled for 6 weeks. I called the doctor and he told me that it was not normal to bleed for so long and to come in. He said my uterus went a little haywire, and it had to be "shocked" back into a normal cycle, so he put me on hormones (I think it was progesterine). I took that for about a week, and the bleeding finally stopped. What happened to me was not normal, so you most likely won't bleed for that long. But it can happen in rare cases.

It took us 6 months to get pregnant again. My doctor told us that we could try again right away, and we did. It just took a little longer for us. I had a healthy baby with my next pregnancy. I know the pain that you are going through and I feel for you. Give yourself time to heal. Relax and take it easy for awhile, and when you feel ready start trying again. Good luck to you!

I miscarried at 10 weeks and bled for 4 days or so before it got really heavy; I passed most of everything and by the time I was headed for my appointment I was barely spotting. He still had to do the D&C since he wasn't sure it all passed and that could prevent me from getting pregnant again. He did the D&C, I did not bled much at all after that, and we were pregnant in about 4 weeks (that was with us thinking we were being careful). That pregnancy was perfect and no problems.

I had a miscarriage four years ago. I bleed for probably a month. The doctor gave me a pill that I took with Valium and I passed everything at home. I did not want to have a D and C. I was told later that if I had a D and C I would not have had bleeding so long. My doctor had me wait until my pregnancy levels were normal and then let me try again in one month. He said that waiting three months or six months was told to people in the past, but no longer was held true
