Where do you look to find a place to rent that allows dogs? I"m not sure where the best place to look for a place to rent would be. Newspapers, local retail magazines, Craigslist? I need to find a 2 bedroom place in or near Lombard that would allow a dog that is 50lbs. Please help me with any suggestions. Thanks!

What can I do next?

We have 3 dogs and rent as well and we use Craig's list and all the Real Estate company websites as well as they too list rentals, you just need to make the selection as to what you are looking for to narrow your search when you are making the selection as to what you are looking to rent like 2bed/1 bath or 2 bed/2 bath and how much you want to pay, its alot like looking for a house to buy when you go through a realtor except you will be signing a lease instead of buying the home, there is no fee on your end to use a realtor the fee is paid by the landlord for the realtor listing and showing the rental for them. Also it's a lot more safe for both people going through a realtor in many ways, you can also set it up to get emails of all the new rentals that come up in the area you are looking for and with all the selection you made to be emailed to you daily as well and that's what we did so we could make sure we got a look at all the new listings as soon as they were listed for rent... We have rented for the last 4 years and have had great success finding a place to rent with 3 dogs on both Craig's List and through a realtor.. GOOD LUCK !!

Check Rent.com, Apartments.com, Trulia.com, PadLister, HotPads - we are landlords and I used Rent.com and Apartments.com just last week to list our Plainfield property. There is a field to indicate whether or not the landlord accepts pets.

**under the "Amenities" section there is usually an option to select "accepts all dogs"**

If you are considering an apartment, you can use an apartment locator. To find one just google the city you're moving to and apartment locator (example "Wheaton, Apartment locator"). Hope this helps! Good luck!

Check with some of the shelters because they sometimes have lists of pet-friendly apartments. You may also have better luck renting a small home instead of an apartment, usually for the same price. Because of the high number of foreclosures, many realtors have homes listed "for rent" in addition to being for sale.

i always shopped zillow.com and when you're looking at a place it'll often say pets ok or case by case basis or whatever. (we have used it to shop for 3 homes, and we have listed our homes on there as well, and we list "pets on case by case basis", or list a pet deposit to let people know we're willing to work with them.

You can go to Craig's list to find a unit, and they will ask or tell you if they accept animals depending who is leasing the unit. Or call a local management group.
