I had a c-section at both of them. We also had NICU both times. I was MUCH happier at Plano Presby. My last baby was 21 months ago at Presby so it was pretty recent. The ER at Plano Medical has a better reputation, but for everything else I would go to Presby. My OB is Eric Jacoby and he is awesome. http://www.personalizedwomenshealthcare.com/physicians/er...

My sister in law delivered there twice by c-section using Dr Herzog and she loves him.

Good Luck!

I had both my children at Medical Center of Plano, first one was a 25 weeker, 2 weeks on bedrest at the hospital. Second, over 3 months of bedrest in the hospital. I went through every nurse that was in labor & delivery on my 3 month stay & they were all wonder. I would highly recommend Medical Center of Plano. Also, like someone said before, their NICU is in my opinion one of the best. My son spent about 4 months there and the staff & doctors were amazing. I have heard wonderful things about Presby. also I just don't have any experience with them.

I had both my kids at Plano Presby. Both were natural births, so I don't know about C-sect. But there L&D room were very nice, and the nursing staff was great. I actually changed OB docs when I was 7 months pregnant with my first child in 2003, because my current OB dropped her staff status at Plano Presby, and only offered me Medical Center of Plano. My new OB was great with my first child, Dr. Jill Farmar. She however only does GYN now, not OB. My second child was delivered in 2005 by Dr. Suzette Boyd. She was wonderful, and on staff at Plano Presby. too. My sister in law had her first at Plano Presby, and her second at Med. Center, both C-sect. She did have a good experience at both. The thing about Med. Center that I didn't like was the fact that they wouldn't gaurantee me a private room, it's just first come first get, and depending on how busy they are when you're there, you may have to share your room. I did recently stay 2 days at Med. Center for another medical issue. The nursing staff was nice, I did have a private room in telemetry (which may be different rules), but the room wasn't as nice, plus my TV remote didn't work. I had to get up myself (hard to do at the time) to turn TV on/off or even turn channels, or bug the nurses frequently.

I had 2 c-sections at Medical Center of Plano, and both of my experiences were wonderful. The staff is fantastic. Very nice and caring, and never seemed to be bothered by any request. I must also say that they have an incredible NICU department, which we learned first hand with the delivery of our 2nd daughter. I definitely recommend this hospital. Good luck!

I had 2 c-sections at Medical Center of Plano. My first was an emergency and the second was scheduled. Their nurses and anesthesiologists were all awesome. Their rooms were remodeled between my two deliveries and are very nice now. Meals are at your timing, you pick what you want and when. The nursery staff was awesome and the lactation consultants treated me like I was the only patient that had. I'm not planning for anymore babies, but if I were, I'd go back to Medical Center of Plano without a second thought.

My cousin's baby was born at 27 weeks last December at Medical Center of Plano and she was in the NICU for about 4 months. My cousin couldn't have been happier with her experience with the NICU. I hope you don't need NICU, but it is top notch!

You can have a tour too - call them and set one up.

I wanted to add that ALL the maternity rooms at Medical Center of Plano are Private, just in response to another post.

I worked at Medical Center Plano as an agency RN on labor and delivery. I really enjoyed their staff and thought they had a great unit. Ultimatly, I would base my deicison on your Dr, not the hospital. Your Dr will be the one that will make the biggest difference in your care. I don't think you could make a bad choice though, they are both good hospitals.

I have had a c-section at both hospitals. I had a wonderful experience at both of them. The only thing that I would say is better at Presby is the food. The care I received from both was excellent. I also had a bigger and newer room at Presby but that is just the luck of the draw because you can just as easily end up in the old section which was worse than Medical Center because one of my friends ended up in that section. I would say the most important thing is your doctor.

My cousin is a labor and delivery nurse. She has worked at both for long periods of time. She would tell you that both are great. She did recomend that I have my baby at Presby Plano (no c section), but said that either is a good option.

Plano Presby does a ton of c-sections, so you can't go wrong with their experience. Personally, I'd rather not have a c-section. I had a c-section with my first (due to being breech) and had a VBAC with my second at Baylor downtown. VBAC is an option -- no matter how many c/s you have had. Check out this site: www.ican-online.org/
They have a local group too for support.

A little about me:
I'm married to an awesome man and a SAHM to a busy 3-year-old and an active 16-month-old.

I had a c-section at Medical Center of Plano and really enjoyed my experience there. As much as you can enjoy a major surgery. My daughter was breech, so I only had a week's notice that I was going to have a C-section. The nursing staff was very kind, patient and supportive and ALL about me and my baby. I would highly recomend them and they have recently remodeled the whole maternity floor, it is very cozy. As long as you are comfortable with your doctor, I think MCP is a great hospital to have a c-section in.

I have delivered at both hospitals and had great experiences at both of them. My now 2 1/2 yr old was in NICU at Medical Center of Plano and I loved the nurses there! I also had an appendectomy there and had a great experience. Administratively speaking, Medical Center of Plano is much easier to deal with. We are having a hard time with Presby's billing deptartment right now after the birth of my 3 month old. You really can't go wrong with either hospital. I was actually a little disappionted when I found out I could deliver my youngest at Medical Center of Plano.

I love Medical Center of Plano. I had our daughter there 13 yrs ago (good experience). My husband was in ICU there due to a very bad car accident and the care he received was superior (he is great now and has no issues from the accident), I had a hysterectomy there which went wonderfully and we have been to the ER a couple of times.

I can't say enough good things about the hospital and the ER.
