You might want to check out http://www.peachonline.org/ if you don't mind something in support of Christianity. If so you might Google it for something in Plano. I know of a few home school playgroups in Plano that are great. Also there is a home school book fair that comes in August (very soon) in Plano if you would like to be able to check out some different curriculum and listen to some speakers to learn more about homeschooling. http://www.nthen.org/
Best Regards,
C.

Yay you! :)

Check out Half Price Books for resources. Workbooks, text books, books about homeschooling. You can find all kinds of things! I've always had particularly good luck at the location in Richardson, on Campbell & 75.

The best local bookstore for homeschooling is Home Educators Resource, in Lewisville. They have a lot of knowledge (and combined homeschooling experience) with local groups, and with the huge array of curriculum out there. Their website is http://www.homeeducatorsresource.com/.

I also use www.home-school-inc.com to help me organize and plan for my 3 kids.

Good luck! You can PM me for my phone number if you need to talk it out with someone before committing to the idea :)

You might check with Willow Bend Academy. They have a home school program set up through the school.

Congrats and Best Wishes on beginning your homeschooling journey!

There is a general dfw list here:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dfw-hs/

It's a great place to find out about what is going on in the homeschool community and to find local homeschool groups.

You are in a good area, Plano has TONS of groups. I am a member of this one:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/collincountyhomeschoolplayg...

It is one of the few that does not require a statement of faith or membership dues.

You can check out reviews on curriculum here:
http://www.homeschoolreviews.com

to see what type of curriculum may be a match to each of your individual children.

Feel free to contact me if there is anything I can help you with.
