Hello! I am redecorating our living room and have a question! Our living room decor is browns,reds and gold with dark brown furniture. What color picture frames should I use with our new decor for family pictures that will be placed in different spots all around the living room? Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you!
I use black frames with white mats throughout my entire home. And I have a lot of different colors throughout the house.
black - you should always have a little bit of black in each room to ground it.
It depends on your wall color, but I'd go black frames with a cream matte.
First of all, what is the wall color ?
if you want them to blend in a wood color like the other said cherry wood if you want them to stand out green or black.
Any color you are already using plus white, cream/beige or black. you could also try a green, I would think a hunter green or a pine green might look nice. If you buy a frame, bring it home and set it in your room for awhile before putting the picture in, and see if you like the color. If you don't, return the frame to the stor(save your receipt) and try a different color frame.
you could also choose based on the main color in the picture to be framed.

i would think cherry wood would look nice with dark browns and reds.
Bronze/Coppers, Greens and/or Blues. What you have now is mostly neutral colors so don't be afraid to add more stand out colors per-say. Have fun with it and trial and error is okay... that's why all stores have customer service/returns :) Also don't get all frames in the same color and break it up by getting different shapes. You start to lose interest real quick if they all look the same, and then soon you'll be asking yourself "Should I get new frames?"

I would say look at your base board trim at the bottom of the walls that transitions to the floor. The color of your baseboard is always a good idea.
I'd use chocolate brown frames and wait until your local Michael's (or other craft store) has a sale, so you can buy a bunch all at once and have all your frames match.
