Hives!!!! They Are Horrible

I have a bad case of the Hives. Head to toe.. I have had them for 3 days now. I have been to the ER with an IV and pumped with Benedryl and some other stuff. I have been taking benedryl around the clock and just started steroids. Have not been able to figure out the source that caused this. I have not changed soaps. I don't wear makeup. I don't take any vitamins or anything that is ab normal. I have been under more stress than ever. Dr took Xrays today and they are normal.
Has anyone else had this? What did you do to make the itching go away. I wish there was a non-drowsy benedryl.
Any suggestions or other ideas to make it go away??

Thank you

What can I do next?

I had hive once just like that and it was horrible. Tkae the hotest, longest shower you can stand. The heat from the water draws the itch out. Try it, it works! Good luck.

if you're not allergic to anything then it must be pollen. my daughter gets these all the time. they go away after about a week. theye ach last until she gets benadryl.

I am just getting over a bout with hives... Mine were brought on by an allergic reaction to antibiotics. Hives are a very good indicator of an allergic reaction, however, as a teen I got hive while going through a stressful time in my life. Just be glad you can take Benedryl--Benedryl gives me hives!?! My daughter had hives several years ago and she had to do the steroid thing. It's not fun.

Good Luck!

are you pregnant?

I got hives at the beginning of my 1st pregnancy and the only explanation the dr's could give me were "pregnancy induced"

I can only use Sears laundry detergent. I wear Clinique make up. I'm allergic to fish and carry an epi pen. However, just opening magazines with the perfume in them will give me hives and my allergies begin. I get allergy shots every 2 weeks from all the dust, trees, pollen, dog/cat/animal dander, etc. Benedryl doesn't work for me anymore. I take Xyzal (stronger then Zyrtec for the itching). Maybe you can get some Zyrtec to stop the itching. Hope your hives end soon. When I get them it's no fun, I feel your pain. Good luck!
