No issue - my dgtr (born 2/4) does the same thing. I just give her a pacifier sometimes when they are really strong to help her get rid of them. Actually - she is right now starting a round of hiccups! My older dgtr did it too and with both I realized that was some of the movement I'd feel when I was pregnant! LOL

I remember feeling the hiccups when they were on the inside, it is so cute...

Now, I do have a friend who hiccups exactly once, once a day, just one loud hiccup. It's very funny, it's kind of her signature. Absolutely nothing wrong with her!

I had the same problem with my daughter. She just turned 4 months old and finally has stopped getting them last month. She did it right from the hospital. If you're in the middle of feeding, keep feeding and they will go away. If not, a liitle bit of water worked 99% of the time. It's more bothersome to us then them. No need for concern. Try to burp him more often.

He was probably already hiccuping in the womb. It is perfectly normal for babies to get the hiccups, don't worry about it.

Hi R.:

Hiccups usually indicate gas in the liver due to undigested food. The diet needs to be addressed. It's possible that this began in-utero with your diet. Feel free to consult with a qualified nutritional practitioner.

My little girl had the hiccups all the time and still gets occasional boughts of them (she is 5 and a half months now). Its totally normal and I found that if its time to feed (which is probably all the time if she's 4 days old!!) and you are breastfeeding, that popping her on the breast when she had the hiccups made them go away. Sometimes they even lulled her off to sleep and then they'd go away. Its no big deal at all. I hope this is helpful!

It is totally normal, and it is very annoying to the baby. Both of my children had hiccups, and it goes away on its own.

Hi R.,

My daughters were the same way. The doctor said it was totally normal - just an immature digestive system getting used to working.

Hope your baby feels better,
L.

Hi there R., just wanted to let you know, that breastfeeding your baby can stop the hiccups (until they come again of course). I was concerned about my 1 mo hiccuping so much, I asked my Pediatrician, and he said totally normal.....nothing to do.
