hi i have a three year old daughter and a one month old. my three year old is potty trained, but has recently started wetting the bed during nap times and night time. i'm sure it's because of the birth of my newborn. i understand why she is doing it but i don't know how to get her to stop. if i even suggested wearing diapers she has a melt down, but i can't keep washing sheets twice a day. i can barley keep up with the newborn. of course i try talking to her about it,and she seems to understand but nothing changes. this has been going on for about two and half weeks. any suggestions would be great. thanks N.

What can I do next?

Hi! Try to make her use the toilet before nap or bedtime and tell her to go so she can go to sleep. That helped my husband when he was a kid and he used to wet the bed. Good Luck!

Hello
Dose your child have a favorites characters? If yes try and buy her some panties with her favorite’s characters on them. Make a chart and buy some sticker, and tell her that ever time she does not wet herself she receive some nice. (Or do something just you and her).

My two year was doing the something and her favorite character is the princess/ Dora. I went purchase some princess and told her that she is my big girl and that the princess doesn’t wet themselves. It been two week’s and she has not wet her self.

obviously it's the attention thing and you understand that, which is a great start. Some might say a reward system will work, but giving her a cookie for not peeing the bed isn't going to make up for the lack of attention, which isn't much your fault because you're just trying to keep up with the newborn! My best advice would be try to involve her in taking care of the newborn, whether it's just playing with the newborn, getting a blanket for it, reaching a bottle, helping you fold laundry(blankets or something easy maybe)...Anything that makes her feel like she is needed and wanted will probably help!
Good Luck!!

Aside from limiting liquids close to bedtime, what I would suggest is layering the bed/crib with extra towels or blankets. I did this with my son, so when he would wet the bed, I'd pull off all of the wet layers and then put him back to bed on the remaining sheet. It depends on how much she's wetting the bed, but I used to put three large sized towels down and that worked for me. Hope this helps!

I have a three year old still in diapers, he usually goes potty when he wakes up and I figure he'll be potty trained soon, he just started being dry when he wakes up..

I would put a diaper on her when she goes to bed, probably will be a short term thing, but if you feel like that is going in the opposite direction then double or triple the underwear at night perhaps that could hold it..

Congrats on the new baby. Limiting liquid should help. DON'T go back to diapers. You can get vinyl pants at Babies R US $3.95 for a pack of three. They will keep the sheets dry if she wets her pants. Then you will only have her underwear...it is a way not to go backward. I know this is hard...take a deep breathe...It WILL get better!!!

Hi.. I had a similar problem.. what I did was I got a few of those pads from the hospital - that they put under you in the bed and I placed it under my son and if he had an accident I only had to wash those pads and not the entire sheets. Hope this helps.. it will get better.
