Help! Our Waiting Room Is Full, Need Pediatrician In/around 60660, Northside

Dear All,
Our baby has a bad rash (it was actually seeping yesterday in the night) and we spent 4 hours waiting in the waiting room this morning, and now they won't see us. Please help!. We went to Dr. Wanda Karmann's practice, and though she's quite good, the hygiene and the waiting-room management (a kid threw up 3 times before anybody would let them move to a private room) was awful, so we're looking for a good pediatrician in/around where we live, in Edgewater. Any suggestions?

****I noticed somebody actually *recommended* Northside Pediatrics: they're the ones we're complaining about! Not only did a kid get sick 3 times before they'd let him in a private room (while sitting on the "well" side of the waiting room), but when we finally got into a room, they had my baby undressed for 45 minutes--and still didn't let us see a doctor! no heating, no blankets, nothing in that room to keep him warm. We got up and left. We're never heading back. DON'T consider Northside Pediatrics!****

What can I do next?

Hi M.,

We also live in Edgewater and we bring our children to Dr. Benuck in Evanston. There are several other docs in the practice and they are all good. They are located on Howard just west of Western and the phone is ###-###-####. Good luck!

I am not sure where you live but when we lived in Albany Park N/W side we went to Norhtside Suburban Pediatrics on Peterson.. right by the highway... easy to get to they have parking and I relaly like the drs. Hope that helps.. They also had separated "sick kid" area and "well kid area".

We had Dr. Aronson who unfortunately retired but I loved allthe dr's there!!

You might want to consider reporting this that does not sound right.
We have never waited longer than 1/2 an hour at our dr.'s
I understand the sick children, but a child who is throwing up 3 times, that has to affect the other children. you waited around that long then they would not see you? That also does not sound right.

I go to Town and County Pediatrics. They have a location at Lincoln & Devon. I have never been in the waiting room more then a few minutes. They are always very responsive and even have Sunday hours at their Clyborn location.

Dr. Stillings is my pediatrician. I see her at Ravenswood Medical Professional Building on Cicero near Irving, but she also has office hours at Ravenswood Hospital near Damen and Wilson, significantly closer to you. (60640) I unfortunately do not have that number but if you call the other office, they can give you the number for the other location. ###-###-####. Good luck.

I would highly recommend Town and Country Pediatrics - they have an office at 6374 North Lincoln. They are linked with Children's Memorial Hospital.

Please, please take your baby to an emergency room NOW.

My daughter (7 weeks) had a rash like the one you're describing..it turned out to be something called Staph Scalded Skin Syndrome. She spent three days in the hospital on an IV. If it goes untreated, it can be fatal.

Hello,
I do not know nothing in that area, but really feel sory, sometimes when You kid is sick You feel that nobody cares about, and nobody dont look from Your side. I also had changed few pediatric offises, and now i see that every offiss has own system. Ask next check up what exactly to do in Emergencies, if it is possible to make a quick apointment, because my office also has no long hours, and I allways better go to emergency(Edwards Hospital there You can get help in 15 min almoust always), if they say waiting time is so much.
before my kid had no insurance, and we were going to cook county hospital(John Stroger's) and there really long waiting hours, even if you have an apointment.
I want to ask what kind of rash he has? Is it on all body, and is it small pimples or somethink similar to baby ilness, like varicela rubela mysles or other baby illness? My baby also had a rash on all body(even fingers and palms) like very small bites, I even have taken a picture. We went to emergency two times, but bouth times they said , because no side efects, and this rash is not conected with temperature, it is ok and jest said try give his benadryl, for iching and thats it. Even did not gave any medicine to put on skin. It was for full week, and finaly they started to disapier, and become brown dots, and in few days no more dots. from where it came i do not know, but my doughter did not get it from her brother. I was thinking that it might be conected to the baby shot he had 2 weeks before rash. So maybe your also got after shot? Can it be like reaction.
It Your baby has no fever, try to give him a bath as much as possible, and lavander lotion:D
Good luck. let me know how it all went:D

M.,
Try Town and Country Pediatrics. We've been going for over five years. We've never experienced a long wait.

Good luck.
