Hello everyone... I have a small problem. I am 11 days late. My husband has been fixed is there any way that I could be pregnant..? I am worried that something is wrong. Its been a little over three years since he was fixed. I'm more concerned that it is something else, but what..?? I have never been this late since I have started having a cycle unless I was pregnant. If any of you have gone through this I would love to hear what you have to say. I have taken a pregnancy test 4 days ago, but it was negative. Thanks to you all...

What can I do next?

More than anything, it's probably stress. My hubby had a vasectomy as well and I've had the same scare. Also, if you've gained weight, that could delay it as well. Don't stress.

Oh yea!!! I know of 3 people who their husbands have been fixed and they still got pregnate. Or you might have an infection. You need to contact your obgyn and see what he might have to say. But, yes you can still get pregnate evan though he has been fixed. There is a very low % rate on it, but it is possible. I will keep you in my prayers.

Well M., it is still possible to get pregnant even if your husband is "fixed". My grandparents had 2 children after my grandfather's surgery. Albeit that was about 50 years ago and methods have changed, it is still possible, but very unlikely. Have you gained or lost a significant amount of weight? How old are you? Have you been under any unusual stress lately? There are many reasons for your cycle to be off besides pregnancy so, I would suggest calling your OBGYN or family doctor and atleast talking with his/her nurse. Good luck!

It is possible for you to be pregnant even if your husband has had a vasectomy, they have the same failure rate as tubal ligation.(Nothing short of a hysterectomy is 100%) There are other GYN issues that could affect your cycle and since you don't mention your age, I won't even hazard a guess at possibilities. Pregnancy tests rarely give you false positives but false negatives are more common. I would urge you to go see an OB-GYN as they would be the best ones to advise you on your current situation. It could be nothing at all or something that needs to be taken care of soon. Bottom line, stop wondering and go see someone who can help.

Could be stress. Is there anything stressful going on in your life right now. There was one time in high school that I was late, and I didn't do anything to cause myself to be pregnant, and I went to my mom (imagine how that conversation went!) and she said it was probably stress. I had two major projects and a test that week, and as soon as I was through with them, then Aunt Flo came. If you go too much longer though, I would get checked out. Hope this helps.

could be more than one reason, but I have a friend that deceided 3 children were their famly, and her husband was fixed, and apparentely it didn't (take) as she had another one. I does happen. If it does, then this must going to be a special blessing and the light of your life.
It could be just a harmone thing and you will have a period soon.

nerves, stress, medication, even exercise can all play a part in your cycles or can even make you miss completely. take a look back at any changes lately and you might want to call the doc if nothing else makes sense....and yes you can get pg even with a fix.

A number of things could be causing it. Stress, and exercise are a couple. I know that women as young as 24 can have signs and symptoms of menopause and then they just go away. Irregular periods, acne, allergies, mood swings, bone loss, and a huge list of other symptoms can happen with out any indications and things like this can take years (many years). I'm only 34 and I'm ready a book called Before the Change by Ann Louise Gittleman just to figure out how I can slowly change my diet to get a heads up on having all those symptoms when it's time to have them. I don't like meds and this is a way I can start to control that time when it comes or at the rate I'm going IF it comes. Ha ha, but seriously don't worry too much. I also wanted to share that when my Mom went through it she started to have irregular paps and she was told by another to use a douche that has vinegar in it or a mix of vinegar and water the day before and she didn't have anymore false alarms. Go to see a Dr. and try to relax.

As I have gotten older, I have begun to have some enlongated cycles. Normally I am like clockwork, but sometimes I have extra long time in between. It would not be a bad idea to call your dr and she what he thinks...

Hope all is well.

Stress is a big factor for sure. Also, cysts on the ovaries can interrupt a menstral cycle. Look for other symptoms...headache, soreness on one side or the other. Some cysts will disolve on their own, others have to be taken care of by an obgyn.

You don't mention how old you are. That could be the beginning of being perimenapousal or many other things. Have you had any emotional things happening in your life, are you stressed about anything?Give it a couple of more days then call your dr. or let it go for a few days and try not to worry about it. As I said depending on your age it could be perfectly normal for the changes coming about in your body

Vasectomy's don't always work. A girl I know got pregnant after her husband had a vasectomy. And as far as the pregnancy tests, if you are really early in your pregnancy, they won't work either. I was two weeks late, had taken 6 pregnancy tests and they were all negative. A week later I still hadn't started so I took another one just because, and I WAS pregnant. I had spent a small fortune on pregnancy tests before I got a positive result!

I have not had this happen before but I can tell you stress can and will affect your cycles. I think it is unlikely that your husband became "active" again if it has been three years. Are you near that age of "the change"? If so, you could be pre-menopausal. Call your doctor if you are deeply concerned but more than likely you are fine, just stressed out.

PS---If your husband never got double checked to make sure the surgery took, then yes you can get pregnant since you do not know if it took or not. I have a friend who is pregnant but they did not wait until after his surgery that long and he never bothered to go back to be sure. I had my husband go back and we waited the time we were told. I don't handle pregnancy very well so my two children are a dear blessing to me.
