Has Anyone Ever Tried Nutrisystem?

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried Nutrisystem weight loss or if you know anyone who has. I have this absolutely wonderful diet that I lost weight on before I had my baby but it is a bit time consuming to prepare the meals. I thought I might try Nutrisystem for the convenience aspect but read some things online that the food is pretty nasty and most people only last for about 9 weeks. I would love to work out and trying to fit it in but between work and child, hours are limited.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you for everyone's feedback on the Nutrisystem program. Based on your feedback, I don't think I'll be joining Nutrisystem. I thought it would be easier and convenient for me since I have a 1 year old but I don't feel like eating cardboard for a few months :) I did lost weight before I got pregnant with a wonderful healty program that I think I am going to try again. It just takes a little longer to prepare meals but it will be worth it.

Nutrisystem does work if you stick to it but only because the portions are so small. There are quite a few foods that taste ok (as long as you add spices) but there are some that are just awful. I couldn't last much longer then the few months, and even then I was supplementing with Lean Cuisine. But, the convenience factor makes it worth it to me, at least to get the weight-loss jump-started.

D.,

I personally haven't been on it (thought about it though). I have a friend who tried it and really liked it. She didn't like the expense of it though. She tried what they sent her first, then custom ordered the foods she liked from there on. I guess if you don't mind paying the price, it's a good way to go.
I myself did the weight watchers (twice.. after each child). I liked it a lot because you can eat what you want, but in portions... and it makes you think about healthier choices (I used the point system). I liked that I didn't have to buy any special foods. The hard thing for me now is that I don't have anyone to do it with. It's great (I think with any weight loss) when you have someone to do it with... it holds you accountable (less apt to cheat).

Whatever you decide, I wish you well. Losing weight can be difficult. Once you get into the routine/habit, it gets easier.

Good luck,

I have not tried them. I've heard it is better to learn to eat the right foods and prepare them correctly because that will help one with their health in the long run.

I'm with a company that has a weight loss plan with replacing one meal a day (lunch or dinner) with a healthy, nutritional shake (chock-full of powerful ingredients to increase metabolism), and we have accelerator capsules that have fat blockers, appetite suppressants, metabolism boosters, and fat burners. In 2007, I took off 33 pounds! And I am in those menopause years where weight doesn't come off very easy. I found this plan to be so easy and satisfying. Bottom line it works! Hi D.,
I did Nutrisystem 2 years go. I had my kids close together, so after being pregnant or nursing for 2 1/2 years, I needed to get back to eating normally.

The meals were so-so. Some were good and some weren't. The first month, I did the standard package to try them and didn't like many. I would suggest that you do a custom package so you can pick things that you typically like.

I did lose weight - I think just over 10 pounds the first month. The thing I really like about it is the ease and that it really helped me learn again what a normal portion size is, which is a very important lesson for someone who wants to lose weight. You do have to fill in with fruit, veggies, milk, cheese.

Personally, I think it was worth it. It seems like, once you get the ball rolling on losing weight, it is much easier to stick with it. I did 2 months and was able to transition to my own meals after that with more knowledge on what to eat, what portions to eat, and what times to eat.

Good luck,
K.

I had a friend that used it for awhile, and she did lose weight, but she seemed to order the same meals over and over becasue they were the ones she liked and she quickly burned out after probably 2 months, maybe three? I don't know for sure, but I got an entire month's supply plus a little extra from her! I could eat most of the dinner meals she had, but not the lunch stuff! Breakfast was okay, desserts I could take or leave. I know they update the meals sometimes though, so maybe some of is alright. The commercials make it look good and yummy though!LOL Personally I think someone could do the same with just buyig prepackaged meals such as weight watchers or South Beach or Lean Cusine or something. It is mostly portion control and convenience, with added friuts and veggies. I get the struggle though, I had lost 40 pounds in the past and have let 28 come back on! I used South Beach in the past and am trying to get myself back to healthy eating as well! Good Luck with whatever you decide to try!

Hey D., my daughters are ages 3.5 and 2 and I thought that I would lose my baby weight quite easily since I would be busy with two children. Also, we eat fairly healthy meals because our children require it so it is good for us! But, the weight just wasn't coming off and I didn't have the time to get a workout in, just an occasional walk at lunch time or in the evenings. I started an Herbalife program and the weight just fell off. It is a nutritional program, all natural and I have never felt better. It consists of two meal replacement shakes and nutritional supplements. I became a distributor and if you have any interest here is my healthy living e-store website www.herbal-nutrition.net/dhs If you would like to chat you can also email me at ____@____.com Good luck with anything you try as we all know this is a very hard thing to tackle!

I haven't tried it but if you are looking for something that is easy, healthy and not time consuming you need to check out Slimplicity. http://www.slimplicity.com

You can contact me if you want more info. Not sure how much you are looking to loose but what is nice about this is the nutrition you get so you actually receive additional benefits while loosing weight.

D.,

I am probably not much help. I was on Nutrisystem 14yrs ago with my mom. I was only 16yrs old. I with being on that and going to the gym I lost alot of weight. Yes the food wasn't all great, but some was good. But than again its diet food. I would love to go back on it now as I know that is the only way I can lose weight, but just can't afford it. The food is so much more expensive than it was back than and you still have to buy your own fruits and veggies...

If you can afford it, I would highly recommend it!!

Hi D.,

My sister-in-law did Nutrisystem - she managed to find a few things that she enjoyed eating - the problem with this type of system (as so many other people have stated here) is that when you get to your ideal weight you go off the diet and the weight just piles back on. This is what happened to my sister-in-law. If you feed your body the proper amount of protein your body will actually do what it is meant to do and naturally burn off your body fat. Achieving your weight loss this way ensures 2 things: 1. It is an easy, natural way to lose your weight - no calorie counting, no time consuming meal prep, it does not require endless hours of exercise (those are just a few of the benefits) 2. After you achieve your health and weight goals your body will naturally maintain it. You will keep your weight off forever! I would be love to explain in more detail how this works. Feel free to contact me at ____@____.com luck - as a Mom of 2 toddlers I can certainly relate to your time restrictions!!

Hello,
I have not personally tried Nutrisystem but my mom has. She had great success while on the program the only problem was when she was at her ideal weight. When she tried to wean from the food to "regular" food the weight came back on and more. My mother, sister and myself all started weight watchers last year and have all had great success. I think the trick is you can eat the same food you prepare for your family you just have to count the points. When you attend the meeting you also get a wonderful support system. If you have any questions I would be more than happy to help. Sorry not trying to sway you either way just thought I would send out another option. Best of Luck!
