Well, if my epi-lady (back in the day) was any example, they work at making it incredibly painful to get rid of hair. You do understand that these just rip the roots right out, not in one fell swoop (or one big rip, as waxing strips will) but repeatedly, over and over and over.

I used mine once, for about three minutes, and never touched it again. I can handle waxing. This, I could not.

I second laser treatments!
I had my bikini area done last summer, and have not had to touch it with a razor since! Best $200 I ever spent!

I use the Tweeze. It's a bit painful. It does a good job, but the hair comes back in just as fast as when you use the cream hair removers or wax. It's just a quicker process.

I had an Epilady years ago. I used it once - didn't even finish one calf. Having my body hair ripped out by the roots was not an experience I ever wanted to repeat.

I don't do waxing either. I just shave when the hair becomes bothersome.

I use an epilator. It is painful at first, but I am over it. It works, but it is slow and inefficient. I find I have to go over the same areas over and over. The only reason I continue use the epilator rather than wax is that the epilator is paid for and salon waxing is way too expensive and wax strips aren't cheap either. If you don't mind the pain, and you are patient and have the time, then the epilator is good.

My MIL likes hers. She lies down and has her husband do her legs. She says that it does hurt a bit, but she has gotten used to it. It works pretty well, but they do have to go over the area we regular tweezers to grab the occasional stray hair that was missed.

I would also go for the laser treatment if it is an option.

The epilator hurts more than waxing.
It is reall painful and hard to do on yourself.

Would not recommend it.

They work, and here are several currently on market. basically tweezers on a little cylinder that grab and yank at your hair. like waxing, you might get ingrowns.

if your skin tone/ hair color is the correct combo, you might also consider those at home laser treatment devices.

best,
