I have a few gifts to buy for young men (17-18 years old) graduating from highschool. I have no idea what to buy for guys? What are good gift ideas for those of you that have sons or nephews, etc. Some are going off to college and others are not. Thanks in advance for any and all gift ideas. Many Blessings - L.

What can I do next?

As a Mom of a recently graduated from college son-I can tell you that he loved getting gift cards and cash. He mostly got cash and then we put it all together and made a list of what he needed to set up housekeeping/apt/etc. Then we went and bought just what he needed. It was great.

For his friends we mostly give cash and sometimes for his closest friends we would give a check plus a smaller denomination gift card for itunes, movies or restaurants. One of his friends that just graduated from college is a big fisherman so we gave him a $25 card to Bass Pro and then a check for $50. He seemed to really like it.

My nephew is going off to college in the fall and we just bought him a tool set (something like 50 pieces) that comes in a duffel bag. We got it at Target for $25. I also put gift cards in the pocket for I-tunes and Starbucks. He seemed to like the whole package. His mom said she was also getting tool sets to give to all the guys she knew who were graduating and going off to college, so I guess it's a pretty handy thing!

Anything for their dorms would be a great idea for those leaving, but for those staying maybe give them money. If you don't want to give money maybe buy a gift card. A gas card would be great since gas has gotten so expensive :).

Our neighbor's son just graduated and we gave him a card with a $50 check. They can always use money for getting things they need for college. I know I appreciated the gifts of money when I graduated vs another trinket that would sit on a shelf - doubt a guy would keep it very long anyway :-)
