Good/bad Experiences with Gymboree Birthday Parties? Other Recommended Venues?

Hi, moms! I'm considering having my son's 3 y.o. birthday party at a nearby Gymboree (Old Orchard in Skokie). Their package seems like a great deal for the price. They do everything apparently: decorate, setup, cleanup, plus provide invites, goody bags, and a teacher to lead activities for the kids. All we do is bring food and guests. So, can anyone share good or bad experiences they've had with Gymboree birthday parties? Also, any other places in or near Evanston that you would recommend for a 3 y.o. birthday party? Thanks for any ideas/input!

We had our dd's at the Northbrook location (same owners) for her 2 yr bday. It was so great!! All the kids had fun and the moms said they were talking about it for days.

Hello, I had my son's third birthday there and granted it was nice. Gymboree is a great place with lots of fun things to do. I thought the $400.00 for two hours was way too much. At the time I was happy, but as more time has passed I think of all the other things I could have done for my son with 400.00 it really makes me disgusted. They should make it 3 or 4 hours. The two hours fly by.

We went to a party at Gymboree and it was fun. I had my son's at the Exploritorium in Skokie and that was fun. I bet the 3 year olds would love it there. You can go and they will give you a "tour" of the play area and the party rooms.

I went to a party at that location for a 3-year-old as well. It was good fun, well run, a good time. I say go for it. The only other place I'd suggest is Skokie Exploratorium, but I don't know what their party rental deal is. (If you are not familiar, look them up on the web through the Skokie Park District). Good luck!
