Going off the Birth Control Pill

Hi Moms,

I posted a question earlier today about not having a sex drive and I suspected it was because of my birth control pill. I called my doctor's office and they confirmed that the pill can cause no sex drive and that I should get off of it. So tonight is going to be the first night that I don't take my pill. The nurse told me to give it 2 or 3 months until I feel a difference and start enjoying sex again. I am wondering if any of you went off the pill for this reason, if it really took 2 or 3 months for all of the hormones to leave your body? Also, did not taking the pill anymore really give you your sex drive back? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I went off of the pill to get pregnant and it did take my body about 2 months to get "normal" again - to start using my own hormones instead of synthetic ones. Give it a few months...

if you don't already- start exercising- simple as walking for 30 minutes at a good pace every day and up your water intake-

It'll help rebalance your body and push your sex-drive back up.

Good luck

Hello,
I got off the pill and WOW, my drive did come back. It was fairly quickly too. I did need some of the benefits of being on the pill so I am on a natural hormone that helps with the things I need but do not mess with my sex drive or emotions. I wish I had never gotten on the pill. It is amazing how much your hormones affect the way you look at your husband; I truly wish I had gotten off years ago----I actually wonder how many marriages struggle and it is the pill affecting women in more ways than we think. Definitely will help!!!

I never lost my sex drive while on the pill, but I did get pregnant the first month off of it (after being on it for 18 years). If that isn't your intent, just be sure to use other birth control.

I was the same way, and man I was back in the saddle fast!! I got pregs 2 weeks after getting off :D I was feelin' the love baby! Good luck, I felt better in just a few days after using it for over a year. After that experience I have chosen to never use it again!! I really enjoy enjoying my love life again!
