My family is throwing a baby shower for us this weekend, we are having a baby boy and he will be welcomed by his 5 year old twin sisters. I wanted to buy them something as a present - mabye a big sister present, or just simply something for the heck of it. I dont need a reason :-) but they are very good girls and have been very helpful in preparing for their little brother. Anyways, I thought about buying them each a new baby doll and some accessories, or a baby alive doll and accessories. My parents already bought them a "big sister" t-shirt to open. I've seen posts on here before asking a simliar question - and was hoping to get some ideas or input as to the type of gift.

What can I do next?

I like the idea of baby dolls and maybe you could get them a small gift card for their favorite store. They could each go with you individually to pick out a toy after the baby is born. It gives them something to look forward to and you could have your hubby go with them if you are too tired with baby.

We bought my daughter a babydoll and a baby bed and accessories when her brother was born. At the baby shower alot of the guest brought her little gifts too( it was mostly close friends and family) she got big sister books and some bows and stuff.

Has great photo gifts of all kinds.
Good quality.

May I also suggest: (I do this every year), I make, via the Kodak site, annual photo Christmas ornaments, for each of my kids. My kids love it and it is my tradition for them. Each year, the ornaments shows how they are growing up. I put the date on it. AND, when they are grown up, I will give them their photo ornaments, to have for their own Christmas Tree/family too. As an heirloom and 'history' of their childhood.
Each year, our Christmas tree is decorated with my kids' photo ornaments... and it is so lovely. And special. I have done this for my kids, since they were born, and as a 1st, Christmas ornament for them.

I would considder not doing it at the shower. Wait and see. Many people also got my son something as a big brother. What we did was get our son a Leapster Explorer (that way he had something to do that was a special activity) and when he came to the hospital the first time to see his baby sister, she gave it to him. He still tells people that his sister gave it to him. It is special to him. It has saved my sanity on several occasions but especially in the first few weeks.
