Formula Mixing

Hi, I had a question about formula feeding. I wondered if it was okay to give a baby regular tap water instead of bottled for the forumula mix. I say to use bottled, my husband thinks tap is okay... I am going to ask my doctor when we see him, but in the meantime wondered what others do....

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

thanks all... i think tap is ok too.. but we are gonna ask ped today in fact. ive been using tap and she seems fine.

I have a 3 year old son I never breastfed and I never even used bottled water is all I ever used was tapped water and he was just fine he has perfectly healthy teeth I see no concern in using tap was all depending where you live but one thing about tap water too it has all the vitamins in it the child needs too well water and bottle water doesn't have that good luck and I have to say wow I thought I was one of the very few with big babies my son was 9pds 6oz 21 and a half inches long :-)

I always used tap water and it was just fine. I had a friend that used bottled water and he said that they started using bottled but that they found out that tap was fine but if they start with bottled to stay with bottled. So I believe that you should stay with whatever you started with but I tap water is perfectly ok.

What ever you want to use is alright. But if you want to use bottled water go for it.

If you live in the city, I think tap water is better than bottled because it has floride. And it's a good thing, because formula alone is so expensive! I would buy bottled water if you will be traveling (my daughter had a reaction to my mother-in-law's h2o in CO). But buying a filter for your faucet might ease some of your fears. Congrats on your new little one, and Happy Holidays!

I used city tap water when my girls were infants and they are now 21 and 17, so one can assume that city water is okay for the most part. Ask your doctor if you are worried about the chemicals and whatnot that cities put in the water. I, myself, perfer the well water. It tastes far better than bottled water.

If you live in town then use the tap water because it has the extra flouride that you can't get in bottled water. I have been using regular tap water ever since i finished breatfeeding and started formula....we have never had any problems with it! Hope this helps

My baby's MD said that tap water is ok to use as long as it is not well water.

I use tap water, but I also live in Ames and we have really good water. I would say it depends on your water, when I lived in Des Moines I hated the water and I used to buy myself bottled water, so if I still lived there I would probably use bottled for my baby too. Go with you gut.

i used tap water with both mine, and only bottled when at my inlaws in the country and wasn't sure of their water system.
i think your dr will say tap is fine. but it all depends on your child. some children handle things better than others. some have tummy issues that others don't. and tap compared to botttle may or may not even have any effect.. but we may 'think' it does..haha..
by the way,, i have a friend named rocky too.. very funny, i that his real name or a nick name?
it's my friends real name and his dads too..
