Food Co-op
Having grown up in the Bay Area I am a big fan or Rainbow Co-op grocery. I have a business and due to rising fuel costs I have noticed a rise in food costs. My husband and I like to eat fairly healthy, we like whole grains, fresh fruit etc. Would anyone be interested in joining a food buying club, where we buy in bulk and then divide the food among the families?
So What Happened?™
There seems to be alot of interest. I am located in the south Bay, but when I spoke about the Bay Area and their coops I was talking about San Francisco. Basically it would be a food buying club, we would buy from local farmers, say several cases of an itm of produce (in season negotiated case prices, meat dairy eggs, some I can purchase wholesale. ) We would then divide the cost and food among families. I have about 12 families who are interested. Please send me you personal emails so I can write and outline of how it would work.

What area are you in? I'm in Hollywood. I know a little about co-op's but would love to learn more. Please let me know how this would work. I am definitely interested. I only shop at whole foods and the farmers market on Sundays in Hollywood. I like to by local produce only because shipping from far off freaks me out. It's no longer fresh that way.
Keep me posted and thank you,
D.

I've never done a food co-op before but I'd love to hear how it works as I'm always looking for ways to save money.

Sure Let me know. We are healthy vegetarians and as I work part time and my husband a student we can't afford the expense either.
Let us know how it would work. It sounds great.

I usually shop @ Trader Joe's or Whole Foods... mainly because I am fairly picky about what our family eats. My sister is involved in a co-op where she lives and saves quite a bit of money. When you say Bay area do you mean South Bay, are you local? I'm in Redondo Beach...
I'd be interested in joining if I could find
* Organic produce
* All natural cleaning products
* All natural bath / body products, etc.
Let me know if this is what you are looking for in a co-op as well and if you are local to me :)
