So What Happened?

Well Ladies, thank you for the suggestions. I found a new Chi on Amazon.co for $50 with free shipping. It sounded like a good deal. We will see if it works for my crazy hair. I swear it has it's own personality.

Remington 3 inch with adjustable heat. I bought that one 3 years ago and still have it. I also have more expensive ones, but keep coming back to the remington.

I have super thick, super curly hair and use the Chi, it works great! Good luck! PS they run for about $125, but I got mine on Ebay for $65.

I had an ok one from walmart- and then broke down and bought a Chi on sale ($70) at JC Penney. Normally they`re $120. I have curley, straight in spots, frizzy hair and it works wonderful! My daughter also has really thick, long hair.

Hi Angela,

I have purchased many flat irons, which never worked well on my thick hair. Finally, I bought a Chi and I will never buy a different kind again. It works very well and is very quick- I never have to go over the same spot twice!

I agree with the other peopel who posted. You can't beat CHI flat irons. they're not cheap but are worth the money. I've had mine for a couple of years now with no problems.

I have had two Chi flat irons and love them! I tried a Solia but the Chi works much better on my curly coarse hair.
I hope this helps!

Hello Angela, You discribed my hair! Ceramic is the best. If you go to a beauty supply store, like Sally's, they can help you find what you are looking for. The inexpensive ones aren't worth anything when your hair is course, so expect ceramic to be costly. Good luck.

I think the CHI flat iron is on sale at Target right now. I have one made by HAI and have had it for several years - probably about as expensive as a CHI. For what it's worth, the more expensive ones do seem to work better and with thick course hair, you have your work cut out for you, I am sure!
