Finley for a Boy?
I just wanted to see how other people feel about the name Finley for a boy. His name would be Finley Rabon. Please let me know what you think. It is listed as a boy name on most websites, but I've heard a few people say it sounds girly.

I think it sounds more like a boys name than a girls name, but these days, anything goes. My rule of thumb is try to think of hearing it shouted across a playground, and decide if it will get a child beat up. Terrible, I know, but kids can be so cruel. :(
Finn as a nickname is really cute, tho.

It's different, but not in a bad way. I see it as a boy's name. I say go for it if you like it!

One of my really good friends has a little girl named Finley but then my mom worked with a guy who named his son Finley. So I think it's fine either way. Personally, I think it's a little girly but that's just me! Don't let anyone influence your decision! If you like it then go for it! Oh, we also have a friend who just named their son Phinneus (pronounced Finius) and they call him Phin...I think that's a cute alternative if you're ultimately going to call him Fin/Phin.

I think it is adorable.
Something that I did was keep the names or the idea of the different names just between my husband and myself due to the exact reason you are now second guessing the name you like.
A lot of people have a lot of opinions and want to voice them.
Once you have the baby and say, this is the name we have chosen, they are less likely to say it is too girly... they will love it and think it fits your new baby very well!
Good Luck and congratulations!!!!

I don't think it sounds girly at all, more of a boys name I think. Did you see the movie, The Notebook? One of the characters was called Finn, probably short for Finley. It's a nice name, Congratulations!

It is very unique. In my honest opinion, the first thing that comes to mind is "fish".
It is a very cute name though!!!

Congrats!! I love the name. What I always did was practice yelling at the new baby to see if it rolls off the tongue easily. I mean, as much as your going to be correcting the child in future years, it has to be easy to say! Then, I would practice saying it in a loving tone. If it still sounds good, you have a keeper.
I also did not tell people the name of my 3rd until very late in my pregnancy and only because people begged and promised that they wouldn't make ANY comment about it. I didn't want their input.
As far as how the name sounds, I do not think that it sounds to girly. I named my daughter Lindy, which we found on the boy's list...
Good luck!
