I'm a single mother of two little girls 4 yrs. old and 2 1/2 yrs. old. The father is not in the picture and getting child support from him is impossible. Does anyone know who I can turn to to help me out with rent, getting my car fixed or just general assistance? I work full-time and between the rent and child care there is very little to fall back on. I don't have family or friends who can help nor do I qualify for certain programs because I gross too much per month. My credit is also bad so I can't even get a loan in my name. Help! I'm doing all that I can but I'm starting to stress out! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

What can I do next?

Oh sure hire any a lawyer. I can bearly afford to eat and I'm going to put out money for a lawyer. I just did that. I gave this women $750 and she did absolutly nothing for me. I know I was told to save money on medical insurance by applying for New Jersey Kids Care. There is also Charity Care at the hospitals. That might save you a few dollars. Wish you the best.

I'm not a single mom and it's still hard so I know it must be harder for you, but I will advice you to apply for section 8 to help you with the rent you should qualify for it if you don't make over 39,400 if you want to apply the office in Englewood is accepting applications until the October 31st, but in order to get the application you need to write a letter telling them about your living conditions when you finished with that mail it in and they'll send an application for you full it out and send it back the address is

Housing authority of Bergen County
25 Rockland place,2nd floor
Englewood,New Jersey 07631-4958

I wish you all the best.

unfortunately the child support thing is very hard. the only thing you can do is keep going back to the courts for the child support, and they'll just keep arresting him until he pays you what's owed to you for your children. i would call up the family courts and talk to them about the steps you can take to getting this money that he owes you. if he's working, they should be taking it from his paycheck every week, and whatever he owed in back pay should be taken from his tax return until payed off (usually he'll get nothing from his tax return and it will all go to you if he owes more then his return). definitely go through the court, and if he's not working, then i would speak to a lawyer. good luck.

I don't know about rent and car, but you most likly qualify for WIC. http://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/ They will help you out with your groceries, health care, and a few other things, I believe. One of the woman I worked with before I worked at home used WIC and said it was a lifesaver for her and her son. She was working full time and didn't qualify for some other programs, so I think they are a little more resonable with their qualifying income. They may also be able to tell you who else can help you. Also, never underestimate the power of EBay for selling some things you don't use anymore.

First of all you need to get a lawyer, so you can get the child support. It is the father's responsiblity to help you with supporting the children. That is the first thing I would do and hopefully all the other fincial stuff will settle down.
