We have really liked everything we have bought from Traders Joe's. And everything we have sampled in store! I have gotten some great recipes from their instore newspaper too! We like their black bean soup, new potatoes, frozen foods and lots of other things! The fresh flowers are beautiful and very inexpensive. Enjoy!

Trader Joe's is NOT expensive. If I lived near one, I would shop there daily. We go every three months and stock up.

Organic free range chicken broth
Sunflower seeds
Wasabi Peas
Chips
Crackers
yogurt
salsa (my husband and I can salsa out of our garden every year but we ran out!)
Fruit juice
frozen pineapple tidbits
granola bars
avocados
organic limes
organic lemons
cashews
pine nuts
cheese
balsamic vinegar
tortellini
Schoolhouse crackers
Dunkers (like biscotti)
Multi Grain pancake and waffle mix.

.......the list could go on and on!!!

I despise Wal-Mart. Many times Trader Joe's items are cheaper than Wal-Mart for MUCH better quality, and non GMO to boot!

Happy shopping! I can't wait to go to Trader Joe's again!

I disagree about the prices! And, I despise Walmart (why price match, if they want to advertise "lowest prices," they should just have *those prices* and not make you do extra work for it--or rip off people who think they're getting a deal... okay, getting off my soapbox)! Anyways, I think TJ prices are comparable to other grocery stores, and I like that they do have some different (specialty) items that you can't find other places. Love their cheese selection, their salad dressings are very tasty, usually very fresh produce, we like their sweet tea, and their customer service tops most other stores! I've only been seriously disappointed once, when I bought a 4-pack of avocados and 2 of them were bad--I just took them back and they replaced the whole bag! Oh, and one time they had bananas way cheap and ran out!
Mostly I like the location of ours! If I need to grab a gallon of milk, a pack of mushrooms, or a loaf of bread, I can just stop on my way home, grab what I need, and be out of there quick (and not feeling like I got ripped off for the convenience). Even when it's "crowded," I can get in and out of there in less than 10 minutes (try THAT at Walmart)!
Besides, my dd loves pushing the little basket and helping me shop--and they give her stickers (which just makes her day)! :)

We like to go, but it is hit and miss with what we buy. But, we do have some staples that are great.

Speculoos spread, its a cookie spread that is so yummy! I haven't seen it anywhere else.
Hazelnut Cocoa Spread, like Nutella, but no partially hydrogenated ickies like Nutella, and it is great!
Frozen Veggies
Frozen Fruit: pinapple, blueberries, etc.
Goat Milk and Yogurt, these are actually affordable here
Regular Milk is really good so is organic
Veggie chips
Cheddar Popcorn
Fresh Veggie: Romaine hearts, spinach, Kale is cheap here!
Sushi
Bacon: buy the ends and pieces: they have no nitrites or nitrates
Ground Beef: super cheap and no hormones
Hot dogs: these are not cheaper than the new Oscar Meyer brand at the store unfortunately
Joe-Joes: cookies like oreos but yummier
Shampoo is good here also, but I'm not fond of the conditioner
Fruit Cereal Bars the blueberry is my favorite.

That is all I can think of right now, but try the samples of food and coffee, sometimes those can give you some great ideas.

I've been to the one in Plano, and it's awesome!! We drive out there once every other month and stock up. There is a Whole Foods directly across the street, that we hit the same time. We get:
Sunflower seed butter
Frozen potstickers
Frozen veggies
Cereal
Yogurt
Bread
Quick kid's snacks (We got all out "special" snacks here. They have tubs of cookies in shapes that are really low in sugar, and only have a few ingredients.)
They have great prices on thibns like organic spaghetti sauce, salsa, and other sauces
Nitrate free lunchmeat
You have to get their "silver dollar pancakes!" They are frozen boxes of mini pancakes for $1.99. They are so good, and have only the ingredients it takes to make pancakes. They are also organic. My son LOVES these on mornings we are in a big hurry. He asks for them a lot.

I hear great things about their $3 wine, but I don't drink.

**I actually think they have GREAT prices for certain things. The things are listed are much cheaper there, then even Kroger or Walmart. One thing I will mention, is I never buy their produce or meat. The meat doesn't look all that great, and the prices aren't either. I got some produce once, because I was there. It didn't last even a few days, and it wasn't really cheaper. I like the produce at Sprouts better, and their meat is priced better also. Of course, there really exotic stuff is kind of expensive, but it is everywhere else.

ETA: Oh, their customer service is THE best. I have never been to a store that is run so well.

Tutor-

Bear with me because I don't know the product names, but we really like -
many of their prepared sandwiches/ salads (cheaper than buying at the deli for lunch). We like their produce, flowers, fruit and diary. We like their cheese selection. We like their sauces including the green simmer sauce, their indian marsala sauce, their thai peanut sauce. We like their mango salsa, their corn salsa. In their frozen foods we like their dumplings, spring rolls, and their polenta. I hear their bread and coffee is good too.

Good luck to you and yours,
F. B.

PS- this seems like it wouldn't be that big a deal, but try their imported butter, much much better than the usual stuff.

Hands down I am grateful for their Organic Corn Chip Dippers!!

Trader Joe's is THE ONLY place on the planet I have found that makes a version of Fritos that are made with Non-Genetically Modified Corn and fried in a Non-Genetically Modified Oil.

One of my daughter's top favorite foods is Frito Pie. I can make a homemade chili with beef from pastured cows. I can use raw cheddar cheese from a pastured cow, BUT the ONLY people to make a "healthy" Frito is Trader Joe's. YEA Trader Joe's!!!!!!!!!!!

God's Grace to you,

Lisa :)

We do the bulk of our shopping there and we have found very little that we don't like.
I prefer their canned tuna to other brands. We buy all our condiments there. We love their freezer foods section! Their yogurt is much lower sugar than other brands and tastes great, we buy the smaller "kid" sized portion tubs that are like "Yo Baby".
We don't buy things like paper towels or toilet paper there because it's cheaper to get it at Costco and we'd have to buy it more often, but we'll pick up a package if we're completely out and know we can't get to Costco.
I love their "Refresh" shampoo and conditioner. I'm allergic to a lot of other brands but I can use this one and it does a fantastic job. I use their Tea Tree Oil facial wash and love it as well. We also buy the Tom's of Maine toothpaste there. I am not as big a fan of the Trader Joes brand toothpaste but I can use it if need be (I have allergies to toothpaste too if you can believe it)
I just recommend planning time when they open to just walk the aisles and take it all in and pick up what looks good or what you need on your grocery list. I bet you won't be disappointed in anything you pick up!

Well, lots of stuff!! I love the Joes Dark Coffee, the dark chocolate covered almonds, their extra virgin olive oil, and if you want to make a homemade pizza yourself, they have some pizza dough that is already prepared, in the refrigerated section that is so yummy!! They have regular crust and garlic crust, and their pizza sauce is awesome too! We love their produce, cheese, and their flowers are beautiful and cheap! Oh, and their wine section is very nice, and the staff is very knowledgeable about it, if you have to ask questions. Love Trader Joes!

The olive oil (premium extra virgin) with a spout, the spices (all trader joe brands), the cereals, the bread, the carrot juice. I used to buy the Charles Shaw wine but its a blend and not as good as the non blend but I have relatives bring a case of merlot Charles Shaw from Albuquerque. The employees are always nice and helpful. During Christmas time the Swiss and German chocolates are delicious and not as pricey as other stores. Get your birthday cards or any occasion cards for $1. I used t go to Trader Joe's in Los Angeles, CA and couldn't wait till they could come to Dallas.

Great store, great prices.
The only items that can be expensive are some of the prepared salads and frozen meals, but all the regular stuff is cheaper, and often healthier, than what you get at your regular grocery store.
It's a great place to buy party food, cheese, crackers, wine, chips, candy, etc.
If anyone in your family has food allergies they have several options.
The service is fantastic too.
Just GO, and have fun exploring!

Chocolate-covered jelly sticks. These come in raspberry and orange and are a gel-like filling with dark chocolate coating. Very high quality and delicious. Our Trader Joe's stocks all the candies on shelves directly over the open case freezers, by the way, so your new one might do the same.

I'm not as into the store as other friends are but they all rave about the sauces and frozen prepared entrees, if that's any help!

Been there don't do that anymore. But Trader Joes is a wonderful place to shop if you have so much money you don't know what to do with all of it.

I don't shop at Trader Joes because they are always more expensive than what I can find at other grocery stores. Sure, Trader Joes has some exotic things other stores don't have, but do I really need Yak butter to be fulfilled?

I shop the sales exclusively and I take ads to Walmart so they will match the prices if the stores are too far to make the prices worth the gas. Example: Roma tomatoes were $.25 lb at a store too far to drive for just tomatoes. I had to go to Wal-Mart anyway so I bought roma tomatoes for $.25 lb because they price matched. (WalMart's price was $.94 lb.)

Good luck to you and yours.

The Jasmine rice in frozen section (comes 3 to a box) and the bagged orange chicken (or beef teriyaki) in frozen section. I always have these on hand for those nights we are in a huge hurry or it seems there is nothing else in the house to prepare. Even tho both say to cook in microwave I dont. I use a frying pan and add some sort of veggie. Love the frozen mangoes, the precooked edamane beans, tempting trail mix and nuts for my husband. Lots of unique things to try and if you dont care/like something they will refund you.

Off the top of my head, we love the frozen mangos & pineapples (they are not combined). I also love their mango lemonade. All natural almond butter. frozen veggies and fresh. Everyone I know loves their wine, but I don't drink. Their meat is great, love the flank steak.

We have one 20 minutes away, so I hardly ever go. I will be making a trip there soon. Have fun, prepare to be there a while.

As a mom that does my best to avoid buying GMO foods for my family (and eating organic as much as possible), I shop Trader Joes often. I am happy to buy from a store that has it's name on most of their GMO free foods. Granted not everything they sell is is their own brand but I like the fact that I don't have to wonder if it is or not. Just because it's organic doesn't mean it is or is not GMO so I love their private label.
I guarantee you anything people are buying at Walmart is not good for you. Doesn't matter if it's fresh fruits, veggies, frozen, canned or anything else processed. No Thank-you!

Their flash frozen wild caught Alaska salmon - the sockeye or red salmon. Their brown rice mix. Dubliner cheese. Their lime chile cashews - addictive! We like to go there every now and then when we are in Santa Fe. Yum. Some but not all of these things (if available) cost more at our local grocery store. But, I believe it is good to treat yourself to something extra yummy now and then anyway...life is not always about saving money.

They have a cilantro salad dressing in the produce section that is to die for. I buy 2-3 bottles everytime I get near a store, which sadly is only every 2-3 months. I also stock up on almond flour and coconut oil for myself and friends while there. Their prices on both are a fraction of regular grocery stores. Finally, their frozen selection of dumplings, spring rolls, and similar items is all very tasty.
