My husband and I have been trying to think of somewhere nice to take the kids. There's not much you can do or go to during the fall, except maybe the Dewberry Farm. In the summer there's plenty for us to do, like go to the beach or Schlitterbahn, camping, or other amusement parks, picnics, the pool, but we can not come up with any ideas for the fall. Please let me know of any suggestions you may have for us to do with our boys aged 5, 7, and 10. We go to the movies alot on the weekends but would like something new and different. We have also gone bowling but besides that we can't come up with any new and exciting for us to do on the weekend.
What about the Children's Museum in Houston? Nasa is also a really cool place for kids to go. Good luck and have fun!
The zoo is a really neat place to take the boys too. Another idea is the Bluebell Ice Cream factory in Brenham. They learn how ice cream is made then get to have a free cone at the end. (Not expensive either!) Another place would be Jellystone Park in Waller Tx. Camping is still fun in the fall and not so hot.
My 6 year old son loves the Health Museum (next to Children's Museum), Old MacDonald's Farm (on FM 1960), and we enjoy the zoo more in the fall and winter. Have a nature scavanger hunt in a park. Fall is our favorite time to go camping as the weather is better suited to a campfire. Brazos Bend State Park has great hike and bike trails, huge trees for climbing, fishing, nature classes on the weekends and the George Observatory is there too.
I don't know where you live, but Cedar Bayou Baptist Church in Baytown is doing a festival this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) for families. Everything is free. They will have inflatables, petting zoo, camel rides, car show, silent auction, a dog trainer, all kinds of things. All information can be found at www.baytownbayoublast.com
There is a great place in Conroe called 7 Acres woods it has a zip line, petting zoo minuture golf and lots of other fun things to do. In Hockley you can go to The OIl Ranch - they have pony rides, mazes a train an Indian Village and pumpkin patch. Memorial Parks Arbaretium is fun as is the Museum of Nat. Science, Zoo and several state parks - Huntsville State PArk, Steven F Austin Park, Brazos Bend. Camping is awesome in the fall. Hope these ideas help.
Ren Fest in Plantersville is great. The drive is over an hour but well worth the trip. As posted earlier the zoo is great in the fall because the animals are out all day. Discover Green is nice and Hermann Park is good for bike riding. Check out which shows are playing at Miller Outdoor Theater in the afternoons or evenings.
