Does anyone know of a local farm with horses and other animals that might be a fun place for a kids birthday party in the Boca/Delray/Boynton area? Ideally, it would be great if they offred pony rides, a petting zoo & hayrides. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

DAVIE RANCH!! Just off the turnpike at Griffin so it is very easy to get to. I had my sons 2nd birthday there. There is a huge party room in the middle of the horse stables. There is a petting zoo and pony rides and the best part is that even if it rains the party goes off without a hitch!

B., is it possible to consider the animals in the equation and think of another fun idea for your kids party? When animals are placed in a petting zoo environment they have the children rushing towards them. The children usually don't know how to tenderly approach the animals and they are rough, the animals get scared and nervous. Animals are not meant for our entertainment they are living beings that should be allowed to roam free. If you feel like you MUST see animals Gumbo Limbo in Boca takes in injured animals and either keeps them till they are healed then releasing them into nature or keeps them. Flamingo Gardens in (I think) Hollywood has many different animals and does the same with injured animals.

I have used a mobile petting zoo in the past called Ol McDonald's Farm and their # is ###-###-####. They do a great job with both the animals and the kids. I have been to a few parties with them as well and it is always fun for the kids. They have most everything that you have described except for the hay rides. Hope this helps!

Hi B.,

I like to take my daughter to Tradewinds Park. I know they do B-day Parties and Pony Rides. Good luck! S. J. =)

Where: 3600 W. Sample Road, Coconut Creek, ###-###-####. Admission is charged on weekends and holidays only. Admission to Butterfly World is additional.

Recreational activities: One of the county's largest parks, Tradewinds straddles Sample Road and includes an 18-hole disc golf course, a lake for fishing and fishing pier, boat/sports equipment rentals, and soccer/football and softball fields available for rental.

The park also includes Butterfly World, a tropical garden that's home to thousands of butterflies and hummingbirds, as well as the Tradewinds Stable, which provides hourly guided rides, pony rides and equestrian programs to the public, and the Tradewinds Educational Farm, including barnyard animals and a farmhouse museum. Both sides of the park offer playgrounds, volleyball, nature trails, biking/jogging paths, hayrides, snack bars and picnic areas.

Rental facilities include one corporate and several large, medium and small picnic shelters. There also is a model steam railroad operated by the Florida Live Steamers and Railroaders, offering public rides on the third full weekend of each month for an additional fee. Rides are unavailable in November and December.

For Butterfly World information, call ###-###-#### or ###-###-####; for the stables, call ###-###-####.

x2 on Tradewinds Park

It's a great place for Birthday Parties and has both the petting zoo and pony rides.

They also have train rides on the 3rd weekend of the month
(http://www.livesteamers.org/) and Butterfly World.

Lastly, they're just 15 minutes or so down the road from Chuck E. Cheese, not nearly as good a place for Birthdays, but in case of inclement weather, it's not difficult to pack up the whole party and head up to 441 and Palmetto Park and stake out 3 or 4 tables in the non-birthday section and everyone still has fun despite the rain (we had to do this once).
