Hi Mamas!

For Christmas, Santa will be brining my 2 year old son and 8 year old step-daughter each a portable DVD player. We don’t watch much TV at home at all, but we do spend a lot of time in the car, often for hours and hours at a time and DVD players would sure help Mommy and Daddy’s sanity!!! My question: is there something I can buy that will attach the player to the back of the headrests in front of the children? (Similar to how many cars and SUVs have them built-in) I want them to be able to take them out of the car too, so I don’t want anything that would permanently attach them to the headrest, just something like a strap or holder that they can put the player in to watch it in the car, and then take it out later.

Santa is looking forward to reading your responses!! Thanks Mamas!

Oh, PS, I’ve seen some players labeled “for car” that have 1 player and 2 monitors. I don’t think that would work for us because of their age difference, they will be watching very different things (my 8 year old wont want to watch Thomas and my 2 year old wont want to watch Hannah Montana!) We definitely need 2 different players each with some sort of apparatus to strap to the headrest.

What can I do next?

The one that we have came with a case that has straps to hold onto the headrest. You can buy them at any store. Just make sure that you buy the right size for the player. They have many different sizes and you don't want it to be too big so that the player falls out.

Hi EB, the Sony in car dvd player my kids have came with the back of seat attachment.

Even if you like one without an attachment, nearby the dvd players there's always a bunch of accessories you can buy.

Good Luck!

OH MY!!

I am OLD!!! (and thinking I should have patented something!!!)

Back *in the day* with young kids...we had a 12 hour trek to NH to see my folks...in our van...I 'bungie' corded a TV with VCR to the back of a front seat (suitcase under it) and got a cigarette lighter charger to keep the awake kids occupied....lol

I am in a time warp I think...

The portable DVD player we purchased came with an attachable case that has straps to velcro onto the back of the head rest of the front seats.
One mistake we made when we purchased our was not getting a battery pack for it. Regret the decision still but its old and we cannot find the style/size any longer. GREAT gift!!!! :)
