I have a 5 month old and a 4 year old. Most of the time my 4 yr old did walk everywhere so when the new baby came along I really didnt think we would need a double stroller or anything. But I was shopping at the outlets last week and we ran into a situation where I could have really used one...... I guess my question is jogging or regular? I have been searching craigslist for strollers (b/c I hopefully won't use it long or much b/c only in certian cases it would be needed) and there are double jogging ones and front to back ones. I have a single jogging stroller and would recoment jogging stroller over regular stroller anyday to anyone but all the double joggers are side to side. Yikes Im not sure that will work for shopping but would be great when I want to go for a serious walk. But I'm afraid equally the regular strollers will be too long to manage in a store and not manuver well in certian situations like my jogger does. Just was wanting some imput from moms that use double strollers.

What can I do next?

They are bulky. The best I've found for STOREs is the sit and stand. Reasonable and gives the older one a place to rest on the stroller. Good luck

I own a Jane Powertwin. It is a double inline jogger. I love it. I have actually had friends buy it after seeing mine. It is compact, not very heavy, SUPER EASY to maneuver in stores, and the kids are front to back vs side to side. I have a 2 1/2 yo and a 4 yo and I still put them both in it while shopping at the mall. If you want more info on it, feel free to contact me! :o)

I have twins and I like the MacLaren Twin Triumph. It is very lightweight.

I polled my friends and the rather high-end favorite is Phil & Ted's double stroller. (Apparently I have rich friends.) I haven't wound up buying anything yet, since my 3-year-old also walks most of the time.

Do you actually jog or do you seriously walk? If you just walk, the Phil and Ted sport is great. It has a jump seat. I've been using mine daily for over 2 years now, it has to have 2k miles in it, and I love it. My toddler loves it, and whenever we go anywhere with her friends they all fight over who can ride in the jump seat!

If you aren't familiar with it, the foot print for the jump is the same as when it's in single mode. It also only weights about 20lb, and it fits in the trunk of a Honda Civic! You may be able to pick one up used.

I've actually been doing this exact research for the last 3 days!
We just settled on the Baby Jogger City Micro and found it on sale for $199.

Issues that I found when looking at all strollers:
- Double Joggers are HUGE. Very wide, don't fold well, and heavy.
----True joggers have a fixed front wheel, which makes it really hard to turn
----swivel wheel joggers are available, but feedback in general is that they are very cumbersome unless on mixed terrain. BIG wheels.
- Twin strollers (side by side) are nice, but WIDE and weight can be an issue. The one we bought is 26lbs - WITHOUT kids. Doorways can be a problem.
- Tandem strollers seem to get the best reviews, but folding can be an issue, and again, weight is a problem. Length is a problem there as well, if you're in a space there that is limited.

This is just what we found.
The one that we bought seemed to be the lightest I found, and folded up the smallest, so it could fit in both of our cars. Feedback also says that it fits through doorways pretty well.

Hope that helps a bit.
