Double Jogger

I have two boys (3 and 16 months - and expecting #3 in Nov.) and I bought a Schwinn double stroller last year when the baby was about 5 months. I LOVE IT. It was about $250, and has a swivel front wheel. That is most important for making it easy to push. I love that I can push it and steer easily with one hand. The storage isn't great, but the sunshade works perfect. You can unhook the shade and tip it even further down if you are walking into the sun. The seats recline sort of, but not great. The buckles are a pain to use, so I have never buckled my older child. I wouldn't take it to the mall, but we used it all winter for walks, trips to the zoo, and will use it most days this summer.

I have a babytrend stroller that is nice - EXCEPT the front wheel is fixed. I'm guessing that was done for stability, but it is a real pain to make turns with. Last fall, I saw a mom with a Schwinn double stroller that was great - I priced it out at about $200 but then the babytrend stroller came my way used.

The BOB double stroller/jogger from REI is the best money we ever spent. This is the best stroller! I have used it almost everyday since I got it with my 2 daughters...3 1/2 and almost 2 year olds.

I have had 2 different double joggers. One was a Baby Trend Expedition with a fixed front wheel and now I have a Safetech Double jogger with a swivel front wheel. I would definitely recommend getting one with a swivel front wheel it is much easier to push. I have two small children who are only 16 months apart and when my youngest was a newborn I just used a regular double stroller for walks and it was not the easiest to manuever. Now my boys are 3 and almost 2 and I use the jogger a lot. The one I have does fold up and fit in the back of my van and isn't any heavier then my double stroller. Another sugesstion I have would be to look for used ones on Craigslist.org, e-bay etc. I only paid a fraction of the price for mine through Craigslist and it is in near perfect condition. Hope this helps.

I would recommend the Chariot2. It is a 2 seated 3 wheeled stroller that can also be pulled behind a bicycle, etc depending on which parts you choose to purchase. I do not remember the website but I am sure you can google the information. My in-laws have this stroller and it is AMAZING. It folds ip nice a flat and all of the attachments are stored in the stroller. Check it out!

I have a single jogger, and I rarely use it because the front wheel on mine is fixed, also..so beware of that. If you buy a fixed front wheel, you have to kind of "do wheelies" around the corners to turn it. It is a huge pain, and I rarely ever use it due to that reason... I have a cheaper one ($100)...but I'm betting if you are willing to spend more money you could get one that is more maneuverable. Good luck!

Have you considered a wagon? We have the Ultimate Family Wagon by Radio Flyer. It comes with cup holders for parents and kids, has extra storage , has bucket seats with 3 point seat belts, lots of leg room, and comes with a UV canopy for the kids. It also has a front axle designed for non-tip turning. And boy is it easy to manuver.

I use my Quick N EZ bike stroller that can be taken off the bike and a handle attached for walking/jogging. It doesn't fit through standard doorways, but it is great for outside and on all terrain. I have a 3 1/2 yr old boy and an 8 mo old girl and they both fit very comfortably in it. I couldn't afford a double stroller, but this has worked great. No cup holders, but plenty of feet room and storage space in the back.

Hi, first of all, I wish I had your patience!! Your kids are so close in age!! Good for you that you the love the craziness though.
Anyhow, I had a double jogger when my kids were young, the only thing I wish they had when I bought mine was to get a front wheel that turns on it's own, otherwise you have constantly pick it up from the back to turn it. What a hassle, especially when you have your hands full-no punn intended!!

I would look into the Phil and Ted's jogger stroller. The kids sit tandem of eachother. The stroller is kind of expensive and you have to buy the second seat seperate usually. Look online they are really nice though. I plav on getting one when I have my second child......someday!! lol

I bought the Schwinn Free Wheeler (different from the Free Runner) double jogging stroller about 3 months ago and have used it A LOT. I got it online for about $220 plus free shipping (new).

I chose it for these reasons: swivel wheel, excellent sun canopy, and, based on consumer reviews, it was big enough for my 4-year-old to ride, too.

I use it for my 1-year-old (20 lbs) and my 4-year-old (42 lbs), to walk to the co-op for our groceries (3 mile round-trip), so I routinely push 80+ lbs in the stroller, over snow, ice, and in deep puddles!!

What I like: excellent manuverablilty, good sun canopy, the included plastic cover that zips into the sun canopy (to shelter from rain and wind), one-handed fold-up, pushes well in snow, doesn't pull to one side even with uneven kid weights, adjustable handle, adjustable seat backs, skinner-than-normal width gets us through most doors.

What I don't like: the kids sit at an odd angle (and when reclined are at an even odder angle), the skinny width means the kids are pretty tight in the stroller, the basket underneath hangs quite low and is not terribly deep, when folded up it is still quite large and heavy.

I have a Schwinn and love it! Mine has a swivel front wheel that can lock if you want it to. The swivel wheel makes it really easy to steer! My husband thought that I was crazy for wanting another stroller, but now it's the only stroller that he will use! It's a great stoller for the price. The schwinn brand was a lot cheaper than some of the others out on the market! Good luck with your decision. It drives like a dream and makes trips to the zoo a lot more enjoyable!

We bought a Bob double stroller and absolutely love it. Swivel front wheel that you can lock, a suspension system to that adjusts to the weight of the kids & makes for smoother ride, easy to fold & put away, and very easy to push. The negatives are that it is a bit of a squeeze thru some doors (but I have made almost all), it is roomy to put in a car (I have a mini van), and lacks a good storage compartment (so it makes it hard to buy lots of stuff at the farmer's market).

I am not a runner but I love taking walks with this stroller on the road, in the mall & thru our state park natural trails.

It is pricey ($550?). But worth the cost especially since you will use it eventually with your youngest. I tried the front & back stroller & gave it away (Evenflow at $150 - thought it would be a bargain). We have another cheaper stroller that now sits unused. I will get a single once my oldest grows out of it (even though I often use it with only my 2 y/o). My oldest is 4 and still is comfortable in it.

I love your mom attitude re: the everyday chaos but not changing it for anything in the world! I couldn't agree more and I only have two. As for double joggers, we have the brand Baby Jogger in a double stroller and really like it. I agree about the tandem stroller....they are hard to maneuver. There is alot of storage in the double jogger and the sun shades are really good too. I would say it has pretty much everything that you would want but am unsure how far back the seats recline. We use ours for family runs and it seems to be a smooth ride for the girls. I would say the only set back would be, trying to fit it through doors at the zoo or other outings because of the side by side setup. Other than that, I would highly recommend it. We got ours at REI but did have to order the wind/rain shield accessory on Baby Jogger's website. Hope this helps and enjoy the outings with your kids.........they are the best!!

I purchased these from Amazon.com last year and am thrilled with both. The stroller holds up to 100lbs combined, seats recline independently, and manuevers like a dream. I have a 3 1/2yo boy and an 8mo girl and have had no problems with this stroller.
