Hi moms! My husband, our 8-month-old, and I would like to take a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary in August. We are very interested in travelling to Door County, WI and are looking for suggestions. We thought it might be good to find a place with cottages or suites to stay in - do you know of any that would be good for a family with a baby? We have stayed in B&Bs in the past for our anniversary, but I don't know if there are ones that accommodate babies. I would appreciate any and all suggestions and recommendations - towns to stay in, lodging, things to do, places to eat, etc. Thank you!

We grew up near there and have spent a lot of time there. Some of our favorite little towns are Fish Creek and Egg Harbor. All the towns are close, you can usually get from one place to another in 30 mins or so. Two places that might be good for families are condos in Egg Harbor at Newport or the Landmark. In Fish Creek there is a hotel called Apple Creek. All have indoor/outdoor pools. Even though it will be August, it is nice to be out of the sun sometimes. Some of our favorites to eat at the Misson Grill in Sister Bay (kind of Fancy), Olde Stage in Egg Harbor (casual), and ice cream/custard at Not licked yet in Fish Creek.

Have fun, we are hoping to get up there this weekend.

We went there before my little girl was born, but I think any place that has a divided room would be ideal. I think we stayed at a cottage in Ephraim.
I'd go on www.epinions.com and type in "Door County" and there you would see many helpful suggestions about the place, from where to eat to what to do.
We mainly hung out by the lakefront, and walked in their little 'downtown' area. It has a bunch of cute little shops that have such unique things, that I still remember those shops today! All the restaurants are good, and they use wholesome food (including whole butter). As a result, the food is simply delicious (but bad for the arteries). I think your little one will enjoy the walk by the lakefront and the shops. It's a very cozy, romantic place to be so have fun and congrads on your anniversary!

No specific suggestion..just get a divided room. We just stayed in a suite with a bedroom and living room area that closed off with french doors. This way, our son could sleep in the Living room undisturbed. It was not much more expensive either.
