E.,
I know all the paperwork is confusing, but really you don't have to pick right away for your pediatrian only the plan you are choosing to go with. Any doctors affiliated with Texas Children's Star plan are good. Then you can visit any Tx Children's Pediatrics and chose a physician. There are many locations all over Houston, so depending on the area in which you live you could choose. I was on Medicaid for several years due to unforseen circumstances that I had no control over. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via Mamasource or call me at ###-###-####. I will help you in any way possible. I have a degree in Healthcare Administration and know their paperwork can seem overwhelming when really it is very simple.

Have a good day!

If you are in NW houston, I recommend Dr Tad Shirley at Family First Pediatrics. ###-###-#### 8714 Spring-Cypress Rd, Ste 200, Spring, TX. He gave my 13 year old granddaughter a physical in July.

My children are on the CHIPS program, however when my son was born, the state put him on Medicaid. All this said...my children and I love their pediatrician. He is caring and supportive. He spends time with you and answers all my questions and EXPLAINS everything. My children love the fact that he wears cowboy boots! He has been their doctor for 9 years. With all this said, he is awesome! The pedi is Dr. Henry. He practices off of Spring Cypress and 249. ###-###-####

Our pedi is Dr. Michelle Shumann - ###-###-####. She works through Texas Children's Hospital and is located at I-10 / Campbell.

You don't say whether you're married with spousal insurance of if your kids are covered under any other insurance, but you might want to look into the Texas Children's Hospital medical insurance for kids. It is offered to families with limited incomes and it's possible you would qualify.

At Kelsey Sebold in the Woodlands, Dr A. Sidiqui (sideeki)is awesome. Very thorough, remembers each child, and is great with kids of every age, even teens. They do many insurances, and I usually do not have a problem getting them in. The nurses there are Great, follow through, and carry on as professional as the dr, with tlc. We kind of inherited her when the pediatrician before left for private practice 6/7 years ago, and she has been a blessing.

E.,

What area do you live in? FYI, doctors who accept Medicaid don't do it for the "check", they do it as charity. They make next to nothing when they see a Medicaid patient. When they take an oath to be a doctor, they vow to take care of everyone the same.

I'm not sure if these docs take medicaid. we are on Tricare (that's the military health plan). I am very picky and not many people in the "cypress" area (290/hwy6) take TriCare. The one place I tried (possibly Dr. Henry's office) was terrible! Not the doctor, but the actual office management. Anyway, I go to Sugar Land for my son. We see Dr. Wieting. He is part of Tx Children's Pediatric Associates. I really like him. He doesn't recommend meds or prescriptions unless he really needs them.
My daughter and I go to a Family Practice near the medical center. Actually she's closer to the Children's Museum. Dr. Elizabeth Knafo. She is awesome!! She really knows her stuff and so does her staff. Especially when it comes to asthma. Good luck.
