Ours is very nice and I think we should give her something. What do you give? I'm going to get gift cards for the teachers and wonder if we should get one for her too.

What can I do next?

I bake for my gifts and the bus driver is definately on my list for giving gifts to. Right now we are having weather in San Diego and the roads are bad, so I'm EXTREMELY appreciative of him!!

Most of the bus drivers we have are moms with young kids. If you can find out the genders and ages (maybe in polite chatter...so, do you have kids?), it would be fun to get each child a nice gift. Let's face it. Bus drivers don't make a lot of money. They are trying to get by, whether they are older and retired or whatever walk of life. Imagine how far a really nice gift for their kids would go, or even a gift card. For bus drivers, I'd try to be as generous as possible. Could you swing $20 or more?

I gave ours (an older gentleman) a $10 gift card to Cracker Barrel. Last year I gave (she had different before/after drivers) Party Light melt warmers.

That's actually a great idea! She hadn't been on my gift card list, but I think I will add her. Our driver always looks out for the girls, and communicates with the parents well, too.

yes yes yes. your bus driver is the first person in your child's day. he / she can make or break the day. if you have a good one you should definitely do something for him/her.

Yes we give the bus driver a small gift, she does afterall make sure my children get home safely each day since I can't be there so I think she deserves it. Each year it's different but I've given thermos type mugs w/a gift card to a local coffee shop (but I know she drinks coffee, if I didn't it would be a gc for elsewhere). We've given her a handmade card by my kids to say thank you. We've given a cute inspirational quotes book w/a bookmark. We've given a small bucket with some cuties oranges. And we;ve given a small poinsettia. This year I'm still on the fence so I may steal another idea from one of these others:)

Yes. I have three kids and four teachers to buy for, plus a babysitter, and the bus driver is on the list. The babysitter gets the biggest gift because she is like part of our family - we LOVE her.

The teachers will probably get $5 or $10 gift cards to Panera or Target. I figure any little bit helps out. And the bus driver will get what the teachers get. Depends on hubby's next check how much I'll dole out :).

We did, but we have a small town so you tend to know them outside of school.

Gift cards sound nice, can't go wrong there.

Definetely yes! I give cash in a card to the drivers at Christmas and at the end of the year. They have the most important job IMO. If the teacher makes a mistake my child will most likely live, if the bus driver messes up the results could be catastrophic.

Yes. Last year I gave dunkin donuts gift cards. This year we all pitched in $7 (there are several of us at one stop) and got a gourmet gift basket, with crackers, chocolates, etc. if you can get other moms to chip in with you, you can do something like that. Whatever you do, I'm sure it will be appreciated.

My kids don't ride a bus, but if they did I definitely would. I just remember myself as a child riding the bus and all the bus drivers had to put up with!

Here is a better idea. A small led flashlight. Often the bus drivers go to work in the dark and get home in the dark. A pocketsize powerful flashlight would be very handy and could prevent an accident. Just make sure you put batteries in it if it doesn't come with them. Most take 3 AAA so are not expensive to replace. I gave ALL the teachers them 2 years ago and they all said it was a great idea and totally useful and appreciated!
