So What Happened?

The little boys at the end are great, very logical. The rest are meltdown brats except for the kid who had the stashed box of nerds. The vid is hilarious yet disturbing to think the kids are so damned passionate about that candy ;) I'm sure they were all happy when the parents said "GOTCHA!" and returned their candy. I see some of you think this was terrible, but seriously, if you don't play a few practical jokes on your kids now and then just think how devastated they will be when some one else does.... it's good practice to mess with them now and then....part of life lessons.

We have eaten some, but no way would we eat all of it, or pretend that we did - that clip is hilarious but I still couldn't do that to my own kid!

The 2 boys at the end crack me up the most though! "Are you serious Mom? Do you know hard I worked? I walked to a lot of houses! I hope you get a belly ache!"

Bad mom alert: I did that one year. I got a lecture on how all that sugar was bad for me in one sitting. But he was okay with it otherwise. So I asked him oif he would be okay if I was joking?

"Well... why would you joke? If you want some, have some! You came trick o treating, too! Besides, they sell it at the store. I could buy more, you know. But not all in one sitting, Mom. That's just not right."

He was 4

Wow, Grandma T, I get a totally different response to that video than your "So What Happened?"

With the help of parents, advertising, and holiday custom, the kids spent weeks anticipating Halloween night, working on costumes with parents pumping up the excitement, reminding the right things to say, including "thank you," the long trek through the neighborhood, the delight and anticipation as the hard-won morsels accumulate. What wealth! Think of the hopes and plans for a sweet future, doled out a candy or two at a time.

The parents jab mean-hearted lies at their children to get a reaction. These are their own children, whose feelings would ideally mean more to them than a laugh from an anonymous audience. For all we know, those parents also got paid fees for exposing their kids to public merriment. The kids are brats? I found myself crying for the poor kids. And furious at the adults, stooping to cruel lies to get cheap laughs.

Wow, I notice I'm feeling really angry. This is unusual for me – I usually process, excuse and forgive. I think it's gonna take me awhile on this one.

Not to be a Debbie downer but I thought those videos were pathetic. How about we sit mom and dad down and tell them we just spent their savings and see how mature mom and dad are about it. Sorry but that was a cruel way to get your fifteen minutes of fame. Although I don't know or care who Jimmy Kimmel is he should be ashamed of himself for promoting this.

Sorry, I really don't mean to be so negative but I thought it was awful.

I saw that Jimmy Kimmel and realized why I do not watch him.

I didn't like any of it. I am one to play practical jokes on my kids and my hubby but I dont' think I would do that. Although, I think some of those kids were coached.

I don't know if it is the passion for candy or the fact that mom took something that they were anticipating for a whole year. The whole approach was mean.

And no, I didn't touch any of the candy because not a one of them brought home any Reeses or Butterfingers.

I posted this on my FB too. I was disturbed by their responses and also loved the two kids at the end...LOL We don't do halloween candy. My kids don't get candy ever. Maybe a couple pieces a year etc. I'm not a candy fan and feel like if you're going to eat junk, make it worth your wild like ice cream or chocolate cake. =) Or maybe something healthy and sweet like a fruit smoothie or something. If my kids get a bag of candy for something, they can have one and the rest are thrown away. So you won't see any melt downs at my house over candy. They have more important things to have melt downs about...LOL

So funny!! Those two kids at the end are adorable.

It's kind of mean, but the kids probably forgave them once they got the candy back. I once played an April Fool's joke on my kids where I told them we were going to Disneyland, and then told them April Fools.

They laugh about that now.

My two kids leave some of the candies at home and the rest, most of them are taken by dad to his office to share....My kids mostly play with the candies more than eating them, so no big deal there thanks God!

there is no way I would ever let my son (who's 3 1/2) eat ALL his candy. I only allow so many sweets/snacks a day. And as much as I hate to admit this... I am getting sick of looking at candy! I think when I look at it all day, I become desensitized to it's yummy goodness!
