I know this is a little late, but I had my second child after being on the Depo. I was on it for about 5 yrs. I was having problems with having my cycle twice a month. The doctors put me on fertility drugs, which I had to pay out of my pocket. I only filled them once. I didn't get pregnant with my son for about a year after getting off the Depo. I wish you good luck on getting pregnant.

Be patient after you are on Depro Provera it takes quite a while for your body to get back to "normal" for about a year to a year and a half. Good luck

Hi J. -- I was on depo for that long and was worried about becoming pregnant. I took my last shot in Sept (so the effect wore off in Dec.) and was pregnant by the following August. It can become very frustrating -- I know! I hope things work out for you. I wish they would publicize this aspect of the depo shot more than they seem to. Good luck to you and please feel free to respond with any questions!

I was on the Depro Shot for over a year 1/2. I stopped taking it in February 2005 and was pregnant with my third son by August 2005. I think it all has to do with your body. I know the pamphelts say average is 10 -18 months to get pregnant.

I second the cough syrup thing - I read it in a journal about infertility and in another place online.

I had taken two or three of the Depo shots and then I didn't have my period til the doctor put me on the pill to regulate my period. I think it was three years before we tried to have a baby but were able to conceive right away. Has it been taken off the market; if not it should be. I made me gain 10 pounds! Good luck.

Hi Jamie

I was on Depo for 7 - 8 years. Once I stopped taking it, it took 3 months to get my period and when I did it was horrible. I ended up in the ER because I was hemmoraging so bad. That was February 2005. My periods were not regular for a couple of months but finally evened out. I got pregnant in August 2005 and miscarried at 6 weeks. I got pregnant again in October 2005 and once again, miscarried at 6 weeks. We decided to stop trying for a while and wouldn't you know it, I got pregnant in December 2005. Our little boy was born in September 2006.

Hang in there. It'll happen!

I was on the shot for about five years. The first time I stopped the shot and got pregnant within months. So I went back on the shot because I didn't want kids too close in age. This time I was only on it a year. It took over two years to concieve my daughter! I know I was 35yrs old and all (and hubby was 38). But I think it was that dumb shot! I went to a RE and he helped regulate my cycle with clomid. I've heard this from many woman at fertilityfriend.com. A WONDERFUL site to monitor your cycle and to just chat with other women that are TTC. It's very frustrating. If it makes you feel any better, the chances of getting pregnant each time you try is only 20%!!!! It's amazing anyone gets pregnant! LOL Good luck. I've been there and I wish you the best of luck!

I did very quickly, but I sneeze and get pregnant! I do not know if there is any validity to this, but I have heard a common household aid to quick conception is to take doses of cough syrup...expectorant or allergy medicine...the theory behind it seems to be that elimination of excess mucus can encourage the conception process. Please check with someone else before jumping on that, though!! :o)

I was on the Depro for about 3 years and I was off the shot for 2 months and my husband and I got pregnant. I thought it would take longer but we didn't have a problem at all.
Much luck.
