Hello Mamas...

I have a 3 yr. old daughter who is showing interest in ballet. She LOVES watching Angelina Ballerina and tries to copy the ballet moves she sees. I'd like to enroll her in beginning ballet lessons and am looking for recommendations in or around McKinney. I looked in the local business reviews and nothing is listed for my area.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I looked into three dance studios in McKinney. Studio 511 does not appear to be open any longer. However, I spoke with helpful representatives of McKinney Dance Studio and a new place called Creative Dance Elements. We're planning on looking into both within the next few weeks.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

Another suggestion - Taylor Dance. Used to be in the Kohls parking lot on Eldorado but moved into a larger facility at White/75 behind the Waffle House. My daughter has been there for a little over a year in their Intro I & II classes which is a combo of Tap/Ballet. Miss Ryan is the teacher and she's great with the kids. I think the website is www.taylordancecenter.com

I recommend The Little Gym. I know there is a McKinney location, but I'm not sure where. My 3 year old daughter is that same as yours-loves Angelina ballerina and has always wanted to dance like June from the Little Einsteins! I took her to The Little Gym because it's not as expensive as the formal dance places, just to see if she would really enjoy dancing. So far so good--I love everything about The Little Gym--the teachers, their promptness, the facility setup, etc. You can find more info at www.thelittlegym.com

Good luck!

Hello, I would recommed the Mckinney dance academemy in McKinney. The owner is Dari, I have never met her personally but have spoken with her over the phone and emails. But my 3yr old takes class once a week with Ms Ann who is with MDA and she is the greatest. I have an older daughter who took dance for 2 1/2yrs in Mckinney at other places and none of her teachers compared to Ms Ann nor the facility and friendliness. I am really pleased with her. We have only been with them for a month now and I have no complaints. They have a website as well and I am sure they will answer any questions you may have. Ms Ann teaches the younger children and she is so good with them. If the Little gym is off of Eldarodo by starbucks I checked there and the front staff was not very friendly nor responded to any of my 3emails I sent inquiring about them. Hope this helps. Thanks and good luck.

THE DANCE MOVEMENT!!!! This place is awesome! Both my daughters attend there (this is their fourth year -- we started with Mommy and Me dance at age 2). The owner is Lori Boldt. Once you meet her, you will know you have found the right place. All the teachers are kind, professional, and work with the children in an age appropriate manner. You can watch your children at all times (some of the other dance studios have some strict rules about that). My children have learned so much - but especially have continued to develop their appreciation for the arts, their creativity, and their physical development. Visit www.thedancemovement.com. If you can, visit the studio - it is located at the SW corner of Custer and McDermott, in the Albertson's shopping center (in August, she will be moving up Custer, just south of that animal hospital that is south of 121).

Good luck!
