Cramps

So, I have 3 boys and have NEVER had a problem like this. I am having constant cramps. They are not like contractions because they don't come and go. They are constantly there. For hours at a time. It is getting to be a little old. I told my doctor about them at my last appointment which was at the beginning of January, but he just said that they are "growing pains". After 3 kids, I thought I knew what growing pains are. I feel that there is much more to it then that, but then again, I am not a doctor. Has anybody ever had something like this and if so, was it really just growing pains?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I want to thank everyone for their support. I have a dr. appt. on Friday and if I have anymore problems I will be mentioning them to him. But as we all know, men just don't understand a females body no matter how much schooling they have had. Thanks again and I wish you all the very best!

I only have 2 boys, but when I was pregnant with my second son, I also had extremly bad lower abdominal cramps. It felt like I was going to have a miscarriage! What my doctor told me is that it's the ligaments stretching, and that it gets worse with each child. Try lukewarm compresses, it helped with me.

Hello A., I to had constant cramps with my last child who will be 3 in June. My cramps where so bad, through out my preg. I must have went to the hosp. 8 times thinking I was in labor, they would hook me up to all the monitors watch my pain and say "your not in labor, go home" I would leave the hosp. in tears. Knowing something was wrong. I changed doc. 3 times and still got no explanation to the cramping I was having. When I was far enough along I requested to be induced to have my child. After having her the cramps didnt go away but wherent as strong. She was 3 weeks old. I awoke in the middle of the night with cramping so bad and chest pains I thought I was having a heart attack. My husband rushed me to the hosp. Where in fact something was wrong. it was my gull bladder. I was rushed into emergency surg. to have it removed. I later was told that the reason none of the doctors caught that during all my montering and all the other tests I had done was cause there really isnt anything they can do for gull bladder testing while your preg. I dont know if thats whats causing your pain? but maybe something you can talk with your doctor about. Good Luck! A. W. in Montana :)

I have three boys myself and might be pregnant again! I thought that after two I had experienced everything but my third pregnancy was way different. I even had bleeding three times and everything was fine. I know that the more active you are the more you are at risk for cramping. If your doctor isn't worried...then you should take some deep breathes yourself. If you are being over active then slow down. Hope this helps.

Hi there!!! Just wanted to tell you that I have three kids, oldest two are boys and my youngest is a girl. Strangely enough I had the same problem with my little girl. The doc told me that with each pregnancy you are more sensitive and notice these pains more. and yes, they were a constant cramping too. It stinks. As long as the baby has a good strong heartbeat and was moving, I was told not to worry about it. And of course, you'll notice those Braxton Hicks a lot sooner too....I'm so glad for you all and God bless you!!!

it could be the way the baby is positioned and pressing on your bones. Maybe your last babies didn't prefer to sit this way.. Have you asked about them being braxton hix contractions. My sister had these "almost constantly for the last 3 mos." according to her.

With my fourth pregnancy I had wierd shotting pains, and some funky nerve pain in my belly button. Can't explain it. The doctor always blew it off as me just growing...etc. I believe that you know your body better than the doctors do, and if you believe something is wrong, see another doctor. I had mothers instinct I believe when I was pregnant with my daughter. I made them induce me two weeks early and it is a good thing that I did. She had the cord around her neck three times, and was not alive when she was born. They got her revived, thank God, and told me that if we would have waited even one more day, she would have been lost. So I think that we know ourselves and our bodies, and we know what feels normal and what doesn't. Try changing your foods, no spicy etc, and drink more water. That may help with some of the cramping. Not to be crude, but do you have regular bowel movements? Sometimes that get constricted durring pregnancy. Well good luck and I hope that things turn out great for you. Good luck on the girl. My last one was a girl finally. 4 boys and 1 girl. (I only delivered 4 out of the 5, I got one as a bonus when I met my husband). Have a great week.

Hey A.!

How are you doing? Congrats on your 4th child! Beat you all are getting excited. Well, it sounds to me it has to do with the way your baby is positioned. The thing I would do is ask your doctor to check it again if you are really concerned about it. If it is hurting you make sure and let your doctor know that. Also, you may want to get another doctors opinion that is in the office too or a different office. You may want to get a book about expecting your 4th child and see what it says about it. Sometimes doctors just don't tell you everything. You may also want to check the internet too. Every pregnancy can be so different. Each one with a new and different story. Are you having any problems with acid or problems when you eat spicy foods? If so, you may want to try some tums. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had so many problems with this issue. Ended up having to take some tums after I ate each meal! I still have problems with it today! lol! From my experience, I think your baby is a girl! I had a lot of problems with my daughter and not my son. So I wouldn't be surprised if it's a girl. Good luck and god bless you and your family.

Take care,
C.

when i had constant cramps like that i had spotting going along with it and i went to the hospital and they told me that i was mis carrying, i would take a pregnancy test, if you are miscarrying it will show up, if it says that you are i would make another appointment and tell the doctor that you think you may be pregnant and did a home test and it says you are and you want to confirm it and talk about the cramps.

I had cramps when I was pregnant with my babies, what they were was when the uterus grew, they rubbed on my ovaries which had some cysts on them. For me it was only on the one side and it was very strange. My last baby, my hips hurt very badly and I knew that was growings pains. If you are very concerned and feel like your doctor isnt paying attention, you may have to get forceful or find a new doctor. I too had a concern about my second pregnancy, she stopped moving. Since the heartrate was good and such, they told me she is probably moving when I was sleeping, and such. I couldnt sleep too good because I was worried so I knew that wasnt true. Finally I told my doctor that I thought something was wrong, so they did a stress test and sure enough the baby was stress. One time during all this, they told me that they were thinking of sending me home because she was doing better, but I said I wasnt leaving this hospital pregnant still. Sure enough they decided she had to come and sure enough she had the cord on her neck and it was tight enough that they had to cut it off first. Go with your instints, even if they are wrong, at least you know and can stop worrying. Good Luck!

Hi A.. I have a two year old son that I had overseas in Europe. I remember, like every mom, noticing anything new or unusual with my body and I'd ask all the moms around me and my doctor. I'd get so many different answers sometimes that it was overwhelming. I guess because whether we are pregnant or not our bodies are individually unique. There are similarities, but not exacts.

I had cramps throughout my pregnancy. In fact it always fealt as if I were going to have m period and the further alog I got the more intense they were sometimes. I always told my doctor and he would prescribe Magnesium for the cramping. I was healthy and active and tried to keep my portions in control, however my last month and a half, I found I had gestational diabetes. I was able to regulate it with diet.

Anyhow...I said all that to say that stress was there and I think added to the cramping and eventually I think the diabetes did as well. Like the other ladies said, perhaps it's the baby's position, perhaps it's stress, perhaps it is justhow this pregnancy is going to be. Keep monitoring it and keeping your doctor informed.
