Coupons
I'm giving coupons another try. I didn't like using them much. Either some stores didn't take them or I would forget to bring them with or it would hold up the line. W/three kids I have to figure out another way to try to save some money when grocery shopping. I discovered that you can print coupons online. However, I found out that Dunkin Donuts and Butera do not take online coupons. Who takes them? or where can I find coupons elsewhere? Any other tips on saving money when grocery shopping?

Hi Brenda-
I am a coupon clipper myself. Have only tried the on-line coupons a few times. I mostly cut them out of the newspaper and then put them in a little coupon organizer that I have. I keep it in my purse at all times, so I won't forget it when I'm shopping. Before I go, I look at my list and then go to my organizer and pull out any coupons that might match up with what I am planning to buy. I sometimes find that the generic brand at the store is still cheaper, so I go with that. I also hit up Aldi quite a bit. Not sure if you have ever been, but it really can save you a ton of money. Don't buy everything there, but you can get A LOT for your money. Lastly, ck the circulars that you get in the mail and if you see something that you use that's on sale (and you might have a coupon), stock up. Better to get it on sale (even if you don't need it now) than wait until you do and have to pay full price.

I know that Jewel takes online coupons for sure as I have used many there. Sometimes they don't scan, but the person checking me out always found a way to give the discount. Definitely get the Sunday paper if you want coupons they always have a lot.

Brenda,
I use www.grocerygame.com. There is a small monthly fee, but you sign up for the grocery store you would like (not all are included, I use Jewel) and every Sunday they post a list of items that you should stock up on and the coupon to use with it. It saves me a lot of money on pantry items and sometimes on items like meat and produce. You can sign up for a 4 week trial. They have on-line coupons as well and tell you when to use them. I had one cashier tell me once that they do not take on-line coupons but I assured him that I had been using them for quite a while and it would scan. He let me use them. None of the other cashiers have ever said anything and if they did I would just take my item and coupon to the self service line because I have used them there with no problem as well.
Good luck. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

I'm trying to use more coupons this year too. I do not get the paper, so I've been trying to find coupons online. A lot of sites make you fill out questionnaires, some make you sign up for stupid offers, etc. I hate those sites & won't use them! Instead, I go to various manufacturer's sites to see if they have special promotions. Currently (this week) I've printed coupons for Aquafresh, Desitin, Horizon Organic Milk, Huggies, and several coupons from the Jewel website. Jewel & Dominicks, Target, & even Babies R Us take them. I've found you can usually print up to 2 coupons per items on mfgr's sites. Oh, Aveeno & Aquafresh are giving away free samples if you request on online too.

Try going to www.slickdeals.net. Not only do they have a ton of online coupons, their forums are a great resource for bargains and free stuff.
Good luck.

Using coupons can be trying both to cut out and to remember to bring them with you. One thing that I've learned to do since I have 2 kids and can't always remember coupons is to bring them with my receipt the next time I go to the store. Both Dominicks and Jewel will give you back the money after the fact. It's a nice bonus as you can actually see the money. :-) Also, I don't cut out any coupons for things which I have never bought. This cuts down on coupon management. Good luck!
