Colon Cleansing - Downers Grove,IL

Has anybody tried this? I've been doing some research on it, and it sounds like it could really help alleviate a lot of health issues I've had pretty much my entire life. I've always been irregular, lethargic, and in general crappy health even though I eat no red meat and have a fairly good diet overall. I know that doing these detoxes frequently can be very unhealthy, but I was thinking of only doing it once and see how I feel at the end of the first cycle. Any input is greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

There is absolutely no benefit to these colon cleansing claims. If you really want to "cleanse" your colon eat a diet high in fiber -vegetables and fruits/ whole grains. But be prepared as big increases in dietary fiber can cause gastrointestinal discomfort. There is no real scientific evidence to back up the colon cleansing claims.

I do not have any sort of conclusive information, but what I have gathered in my own research suggests that some of the supplement detox programs may go overboard, getting rid of not only toxins, but also things that need to stay in the body for optimal health. Having said that, I read an interesting article in First magazine that offered an alternative to colon hydrotherapy that has worked well for me as I continue to investigate...

They recommend drinking the following smoothie twice a day until you are regular and symptom free, then twice weekly (I've only ever had it once a day, and it has still been beneficial).

Blend 1 papaya, 2 cups cranberries, 1 Tbs. ground flaxseed, and 2 Tbs. psyllium powder.

Note: Don't eat within an hour of drinking the smoothie or the megadose of fiber could flush away nutrients in food. (You won't want to anyway b/c this is very filling.)

I hope this is helpful. I am still learning and look forward to hearing how things work out for you!

Best, R.

I have been using colonics for years and years. This is very beneficial for any and all health ailments. You are toxic and the ONLY way get your health back on track is to do this. The usual protocol is one a week for every 6 weeks and then every 4-6 weeks thereafter. There is tar, candida, parasites that have been collecting there since you were born and our current lifestyle does not allow them to be eliminated by our bodies. What happens is the the pollution, processed foods, hormones in the dairy, meat and pesticides hang out in your intestines and get re-absorbed back into the body which makes the liver sluggish, then the kidneys, gallbladder, adrenals and then the thyroid.

This is why you feel crappy. It is really hard to jumpstart the thyroid and adrenals but can be done. The average person is walking around with 15-20 lbs. of fecal matter. I know it sounds gross but true.

There is no supplement that can do what colonics does. One of my best friends has been doing this for 15 years. I have never felt better having it done.

There are some really good clinics here-

Once you that you can proceed with herbs to help clean the liver and the blood and body.

Right now to help-you need to use very good high quality probiotics, coconut oil & salba (omega's) and organic fresh fruits and veggies help to detoxifying every day. You will want a superfood antioxidant that is all natural with no preservatives, glucose, corn syrup. Recommended brands with 3rd party endorsements are NSI, Quantum, Nordic Naturals, all which you can get for a discount at vitacost.com or naturalwebstore.com.

I have so much more info. That should get you started for now. I have supplemental websites and info on my blog at www.originalgranolagirl.blogspot.com

It is in its early stage-I have much more to add but want to have it out there.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I am glad to help.

Actually we are so polluted we should do some sort of detox on a daily basis. The herbs that do it are very gentle and very good for the body.

A number of the issues you mentioned can also be related to an overgrowth of candida yeast in your intestines. Someone else here suggested a probiotic, and that's an excellent suggestion.
Also, many supplements can help with energy level, especially B Vitamins.
Shaklee has a sustained release B vitamin that is clinically proven to boost the vitamin B level in the bloodstream for 12 hours.
It's important to have a quality supplement that you know will work.
U.C. Berkley recently published a study about Shaklee supplements compared to those who use other supplements or none at all. The Shaklee supplements had a significant positive impact on overall health long term.
When you consider a supplement, ask yourself who says it's a quality one. The company that makes it? Or an outside researcher.
Shaklee took the research of U.C. Berkely and created a convenient daily packet of vitamins based on the supplements taken by people in the study. It contains the sustained release B and C vitamins, Omega 3's, Caratanoids, a multi-vitamin, and a probiotic, all in 6 convenient capsules. It's called Vitalizer.

My family has been using Shaklee supplements for over 35 years, and I highly recommend them.

Instead of detoxing, here's something that you can use on a regular basis w/o harmful, unhealthy concerns. http://www.melaleuca.com/ps/pdf_us/Fiberwise_0705_PIB.pdf

My favorite is harvest peach. There's even strawberry crunch cereal, cereal bars and snack bars. My kids love them too. For fiber, they are quite delicious!

I'm not a distributor for this company. I'm simply a preferred customer. However, I can show you how to shop online and get the PC price that I get.
