Clomid & Multiples

A. I think there is something else to consider on this. I had fertilty issues and still do. Have been battling for 15 yrs now. But a few years ago I was put on Clomid b/c of the lower risk for multiples. Almost immediately I began to be angry adn rude with my family, my daughter and and hubby couldn't go a day without being yelled at and me having a melt down. I felt so out of control and crazy almost. A few Sundays later at church I broke down in my small group and asked for prayer for my attitude latley, I gave some specifics and then one of my firends spoke up and asked me if I was on Clomid. She said that it will drive you mad, she went through the same thing and said that her doctor even told her that was a side effect and then 2 other of my friends admitted the same thing. I stopped taking it right then and I got better. Please consider this before taking it and know that there are other options out there!!!

I took clomid after trying for over a year to get pregnant. Come to find out I had polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which seems to be pretty common. As a result of the PCOS, I did not ovulate due to lack of an FSH (folicle stimulating hormone) so my doctor game me the lowest Clomid and I got pregnant after the first cycle (you take it in a five day cycle every month until you get preggers). You have a slightly increased chance (10%) of conceiving twins but even less likely to conceive triplets or more.

I would find out why you are having trouble conceiving and do some research as to the best method of fertility. If you have PCOS like so many others, Clomid would be a great choice.

My doctor has been talking to me about using clomid. She mentioned that out of all of the times she's given clomid, she has only had I think one woman have multiples (maybe it was two, but I can't remember). However, no one knows if those women would have had multiples anyway. . so from what I understand there isn't strong research that shows of any correlation.

This is kind of funny but i had lots of trouble trying to have a baby and my on wated to put me on clomid and i did say no because i didnt want twins or multi. well i endend up getting prenent soon after i said no to the clomid and i have TWINS!!!!!!! Just thought that might make ya laugh.

The way my doctor explained it to me was that on Clomid I was least likely to have multiples than any other form of fertility drug. He did say that the longer I took it the more likely it would be. I only had to take it one month. My problem was light, but we had tried for two years without it. So instead of being three years apart they are five years apart. If you want another child and your dr. has recommended Clomid, I would give it a try.

Hi A., We used Clomid with PCOS and had 5 viable eggs the day they did Intra-Uterine Insemination but only 1 took. According to my doc it's not very common to have more than one child using the Clomid. I do know it can cause major hormonal/mood swings for certain people but I was only on it 4 days at a time each time I took it- 2 tries- and it didn't bother me. A.
