Cleaning a Stainless Steel Sink
Does anyone know of any tricks to keep a stainless steel sink looking like brand new? I've tried everything from tooth paste and many different household cleaners. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Try comet or Bar Keeepers Friend, similar to comet. Also baby oil or WD-40 will make it shine. I am a neat freak with a messy husband too!

I only use non-toxic cleaners and for stainless steel I love baking soda. It makes my stainless steel dishwasher and stove look like new.

Limeaway is the easiest way that I know. It chemically reacts with CaCO3 so you hardly have to scrub at all. Vinegar is a little more eco-friendly and is based on the same concept, but doesn't work as well.

I am not trying to be a smartass here so don't take this the wrong way please!! I used to work for a cleaning service cleaning homes. I'm quite sure you've tried this already, but on the chance you haven't, well here ya go.....we used to use stainless steel cleaner/polish, it comes in an aerosol(sp)spray can. You can find it usually at any hardware store. It works very well , give it a shot!!!

I use baking soda and water. Sometimes I use Comet. Also Barkeepers Friend works great on metals. It stinks a little, but shines things up and can keep them shiney for awhile.

I learned by accident that laundry soap works really well. I was soaking some clothes in the sink and when i drained the water it was sparkling.. I mean sparkling never saw it look so nice. So now i just sprinkle a little of the powder (dont know how the liquid works) wet it down a little and use a rag to rub it around and it's absoutly beautiful. really easy, fast and it doesnt take much elbow grease.
I agree with bernadette!!. I forgot completely about those erasers!! They are wonderful! work wonders on most things around the house. especially on stainless steel and your stained coffee mugs!! =D

Powder detergent is good but I don't buy as it doesn't always wash out of my clothing. I found Mr. Clean magic erasers to work wonders, even the dollar store cheapies work.
Soft scrub is good too but I prefers the Erasers!

Hi J.,
I have stainless steel sinks too and the best thing that works for me is filling one sink (as high as you can) at a time with hot water and a cup of bleach and letting it sit for an hour or so. Drain, then fill the other side. You don't need to scrub anything and it even gets the drain plug looking like new. Once you deep clean you just need to use windex or something similar to keep it looking great.
Happy cleaning!

Hi J.:
I clean mine with Soft Scrub with bleach.....I wipe the S.S. in and around the whole sink and let it sit for maybe 10 minutes and then I rinse clean....Also after I finish the dishes I just wipe around the outside rim with a lysol wipe. Keeps it looking shiney.
