Christmas Gifts for Services?

I have a cleaning lady and a hair dresser that I see on a regular basis. What is the proper etiquette for Christmas gifts for the two of them? I never know what to do!

What can I do next?

I don't have the luxury of having a cleaning lady right now, so I'd just give myself a gift certificate for a massage. LOL:) But I do have a hairdresser that my whole family goes to (me,hubby, and two young boys), so I feel like she is part of the family.. a very dear friend at the least.. We visit when I'm getting my hair cut and she loves the show American Idol, so one year I bought her the Carrie Underwood CD, one year I gave her a candy jar with a lid and full of candy for her stand (she had candy in an old kleenax box and as you can imagine... it was getting hair in there)- I take her candy in the summer and try to keep it full for her. This year money was really tight, so I made fudge and chex mix for our friends, her included. It is the thought that counts! Happy holidays!

Gift cards are always great!

our cleaning lady is amazing and i really wanted to bless her this year. so we gave her a bonus of an extra months' pay (she comes every other week). from reading the other responses, i know that this is on the generous side, but i also know that she does not have much and i completely appreciate the work she does for our family. from my friends, i've heard that a bonus equal to one cleaning's pay is "normal" though i have no idea what proper etiquette is.
i'm feeling a little bad for my hairdresser now because thus far, i've only given her some homemade cookies. i'll probably give her a bigger tip next time i go in.
merry christmas! i'm sure whatever you decide to do will be right for you and your family.

I don't know what is expected, but this is what I do - I give modest gifts to hair stylists and a Christmas "bonus" of one week's pay to my cleaning lady (if she comes every other week then I pay her 1/2 of one visit). I hope that helps!

I'm not sure it's the proper etiquette; but, I have two ladies that clean weekly for me. At Christmas, I give each one $100. A long-term hairdresser, I would gift with doubling my service charges for that appointment.

I also gift my cleaning ladies around July 4th; so, they get two "bonus"es each year.

Hope that helps,
R.

Next year, or for another occasion, consider giving Scentsy!

Fun products, and you can find something for everyone.

you could do a card and gift card or cash. Or if there is something that you know they like... get it, a special perfume or something they need.

Just a thought.
