Choo Choo, I Need a Train Cake
Hey Mamas out there!
I am looking for a train cake for my son’s 2nd birthday party next week. I am having more trouble finding one than I thought I would. The places that I have called either tell me that they only have a Thomas the Train ‘Kit” which has plastic trains that they put on the cake or they can try to free hand a train on a cake but they haven’t done a train before. I thought this would be easy, but no. His party is just trains, not Thomas.
So my question to you is this. Do you recommend a bakery that makes train cakes? I would love to have a cake in the shape of a train and decorated with the colors of his party, which would be ideal. But at this point I am game for anything. At first I wanted a cupcake cake in the shape of a train but evidently that is not possible.
Any suggestions will be most appreciated

try a place that makes wedding cakes. When we lived in FL I always used my wedding cake people for specialty cakes. One year they even made a pirate ship cake from one of the Veggie tales movies. They are always beautiful and taste great. Good luck.
PS William Sonoma has an actual cake pan that has train shapes. I recently got one but have not used it yet so I don't know how easy it would be...

I would strongly recommend Dolce Vita Cakes (www.dolcevitacakes.com). The bakery is in Little Elm, but I know she has a delivery radius - well worth it. She's done jungle animal cupcakes, a 3-D barn, airplane cake and soon a Wiggles car for our family.
Good luck,

W. Sonoma has a train cake pan. Check out their website. You just bake the cake in the pan and decorate it using candy. Very EASY! I can email you a pic of the one I did for my son if you would like.
